  1. shorthaired is a syrian, I got one the other day and it said shorthaired hamster. It didn't say syrian, but it was. A syrian and a syrian will fight to the death if put together. They don't get lonely. They like being alone. Just hold each of your hamsters seperately.

  2. A short-haired hamster IS a syrian hamster.

Short-haired, long-haired, angora, panda, black bear, golden, dalmatian, etc are all just names for different varieties of Syrian hamsters.

Syrian hamsters should only be housed individually.

  3. Yes, they'll fight.

Syrian hamsters are solitary creatures and can only be housed alone.

The different dwarf species can only be kept with others of their same species. You can't mix them even with the other dwarf species.

  4. Being housed in the same cage is a big No No. Syrian hamsters are very territorial and will fight each other when put together. Your hamsters will need separate cages, it's very unsafe and inhumane to keep them together.

Give them something to chew on to wear down the teeth, hard food treats like Vitakraft brand Raviolos work well.

    Hope that answered your question!!!

  5. hamsters don't like having any other hamster around. i would just pay a little more attention to him and he should be fine. they usually live a life of solitude and like it that way.

  6. depends on the hamster like individually some will get along great with others and some don't ya know i would ask the pet store if they would take it back if they don't get along ya know or get another tank good luck i hope they get along
