Would u call me Goth or Emo?

Question

I get called emo and goth all the time and it really gets on my nerves. I tell people im not and they keep calling me goth and emo anyways. Iv even been accused of being a vampire by someone.I hate being called these things and i want to know what other people think of me before i accept that i am goth or emo.

I almost always wear black shirts or tank tops...and when i dont where black its always dark blues, purples, and greens. I wear jeans every day to school. I wear a black choker necklace every day....i never take it off. I sometimes wear eye liner to school and stuff but i rarely wear black....its always green or blue or purple and sometimes brown. and its never a lot. iv never cut my wrist or even thought about doing it. I love my life and im always happy and really hiper at school. What do u think. Im i really emo or goth at all?

Goth and Emo, like all labels, are completely meaningless. They exist only to make people feel like they're part of something and still keep everyone very much separate and clumped into various generic groups. How you dress or do your makeup is not who you are. You know what you are and what you aren't. Don't worry what anyone else thinks of you.

not @ all! but if you want ppl 2 stop calling you goth/emo instead of wearing black eyeliner you should try white bcause it looks nice on every1. and if you like black tank tops, try wearing a bright colored short cardigan sweater on top. heres a good one: http://www.abercrombiekids.com/webapp/wc...

and try 2 wear short jean cutoffs or white shorts (they look good w/ almost all tops)

plus another tip 4 your makeup: try using eyeshadow colors like pink, cool blue, a pastel lime green, or lavender very lightly on top of your eyeliner or at the sides.

if you can then you should trade the black choker 4 a bff necklace from juicy and buy it w/ your bestie.

If I were you i would not care what other people say. Shoul dress the way you want to and not care i'm not neccesarily "goth", i'm more punk rock but in 7th grade I used to be called emo. The people who call others names, have low selfeteems, basically they do it to make them selves feel better. SO DRESS THE WAY YOU WANT TO!

ok here are my definitions:

goth is like "I hate the world"

and

emo is like "the world hates me"

so if you love life then you're not goth...and if you're not like depressed all the time or cutting or whatever then you're not emo

I would not call anybody goth or emo, because those are stereotypes... people usually base them on a certain way that you look or a way you act, but there are so many people who would call you that without getting to know you first and that's just sad. People are just too different and too complex to put them in groups like that. I hope that you know that people want you to feel bad about this and you shouldn't let it get to you. God loves you!

Goth is a person who just chooses to wear black. Some of the happiest people I know are goth. If you DO wear black everyday, yes that makes you goth.

if u know that you're not then u shouldn't even worry or care what people call you...they are most likely giving you names just from your apperance and not your personality...they could also be doing it just because they know it bugs you...my advise is to stay who u r...u don't need to change for anyone...drown them all out...chances are that if you tell them once that you're not emo or goth, then you just ignore them next time they ask...they won't bother u anymore

see sometimes its just peoples opinions. people classify people in different sections. maybe try getting brighter colors which makes u get out of that "goth emo" classification

People are always going to have preconceived notions about how you dress and will label you. Unfortunately there is not much you can do.

And just for the record, there is nothing wrong with being Goth (or its wannabe cousin, Emo)

The fact is you wear black and dark colors so others will still call you that. I'm nearly 40 and all i wear is dark colors. Why? Because black is clean and comfortable. I wore the same thing back in school and was just called 'depressed' or 'suicidal'.

Goth and Emo are just fancy new names ignorant kids use to make themselves feel superior to you.

Stay exactly as you are! Tell the next person who calls you Goth or Emo a preppy little (insert curse here)

Well i suggest you wear some brighter girly clothes like pinks, whites, turquoise the occasional black is fine though. I'd think the same if i seen you because your wearing green,blue, purple or brown & your black chocker necklace dont help..your a girl so enjoy wearing nice girly clothes & nice silver jewellery or something =] I mean if its doing your heading that much being called an Emo or Goth i'd change your style.

no ur not. goth and emo kids are who they are. just because you dress diffrently than everyone else doesn't mean ur goth or emo. goth and emo kids are who they are because of the way they act and who they are, not because of how they look. just ignore everyone else and be yourself.

Well, maybe you could do a little to change your style. Of course you arent, based on your personality, but looks are important in the end for some people. Maybe you could use a fresh new style if you really want a change. Wear more white, and gradually brighter colors. Maybe leave the choker off a few times. Good luck!
