--- In my younger years I would have leapt at the chance to go to the US antarctic headquarters station at McMurdo Bay or even the Cape Hallett or Palmer Research Stations.

--- I used to dream about what it would be like to live in an area where the temp could go as low as minus -128 degrees Fahrenheit/ minus -89 Celsius!

--- The redundant insulating features required just to survive there presented a challenge I wanted to try. However, being older now and somewhat disabled from my chosen profession I don't think it would be safe to go where I would be locked in for 3-4 months without access to a real hospital, etc.

You can also get a job there if you have what they need in skills. They need cooks, plumbers & everything a small village would need as well as research assistants from university populations.
