There are some online programs, both HS and college degrees, that are perfectly legit and serve their purpose.  You have to do your research if you are serious about this.  Most employers don't particularly care where you went to HS, just that you graduated.  Your degree of intelligence shows regardless of the particular school, but the fact that you perservered to graduate (or even went back to get a GED) shows a determination that many employers want.

Now, obviously, you wouldn't want a doctor that went to medical school online, but in most lines of employment a HS diploma is just a diploma.
