As your meant to use your own imagination it means making things up by yourself not just using dreams from your subconscious. Would it be cheating if you did this as you did not make it up yourself?

  1. nah....i wouldnt consider that to be cheating, your dreams are made up from your subconscious which is the brain itself, hence u are the brain , your body is somthing like your 'clothes' ideas that your brain(which is U) made up are actually your idea as well. Its like your neuro cells are trying to patch up your activities for the day illogically for u

  2. How's that cheating? You've been inspired - think of it as a gift from your brain - an idea stimulator

  3. nuh uh, i dont thenk so!! ♥ ur sub conscience is a part of u

  4. no, that's perfectly acceptable.

  5. It's not cheating. I get many ideas for short stories from dreams. Some have been published. They're YOUR dreams, so it really does come from your own special creative point of view...

  6. Technically speaking, even if they come from your subconscious, dreams are still your own, not someone else's. They are still your production. They come as disguised, maybe in a more poetic, creative, glamorous, interesting form, but they really disguise some of your worries, thoughts, desires, happening from your past, etc. It would be cheating if you used someone else's dreams.

Of course, you can also make a few changes here and there when writing the story based on your dreams, and add some more, and anyway even telling a dream is called the manifest content, which is a little different from the actual dream, the latent content. In recalling a dream, some elements may be lost or maybe slightly modified - like when telling about an event, there may be details you won't recall.
