Would volunteering at a humane society be considered community service for probation.?

   yes it would but you would need someone to sign on it but you may get soem dirty looks cause people just think your doing it for yourself.

   Yes. Clear it with your probation officer and when you fill out your application at the humane society, tell the volunteer manager you are doing this to fulfill a court order and what your offense was.

   That's a great idea, but of course you would need to discuss it with your probation officer. It seems like the jobs they want you to do are things you would not necessarily enjoy in order to keep you from making unwise choices in the future so you won't get stuck digging ditches or picking up trash again. But! My older brother worked on a farm for his community service. it depends on your offense and your probation officer.
