Would walking with a backpack full of weights help build muscle mass in calves ?

  1. Working out with a heavy weight on your back could possibly cause back strain.  Doing step training, eliptical machine, jump rope or biking would be a less strainful alternative that would still build up your calf muscles.


  2. it would do more harm to your back than good for your calves. if your trying to get some exercise in during your day try walking with exaggerated heel-toe steps....kinda like regular steps but go  all the way up on your tip toes before next step. and skip the  backpack full of weights :-)

  4. YES IT WILL...but, the weights need to be padded and balanced. Otherwise, your asking for a back sprain...I used to hike with 2x 25lb weights in my backpack. I also used a 25 lb disc held against my chest with crossed arms when doing setups..That got me quick results on my abs espically when used in conjunction with a slant board....adding resistance will give you results period...If you wanna get big you gotta lift heavy.............
