  1. I can see how you would bring up the whole age thing as an important factor, some horses can't compete or do regular riding once they hit 20, while some horses are still riding & competing into their 30's.

You would really need to go see the horse, or even get it vet checked to see if it has any major health problems. After all, this is a big decision, the owners should allow you to do this after you are seriously considering buying the horse.

As the price, it's a little high. That's something i might pay for a horse i was looking to show, not a 15 year old first horse. Another point to look at is if this horse would suit your riding ability or not, that is a really important factor. Don't set your heart on this horse because its looks nice, theres a lot more to consider.

Good Luck with your search. =]

  2. Yes, but only if he was still sound and fit.  I've seen horse jump well into their 20s, but only so high.  If you take good care of him and condition him well, the chances of him being healthy in four years are good.  (My horse is 14 and I'm jumping him four feet.  I expect him to continue jumping well for several more years).

If you work with the horse so that he is better trained in four years, you could raise the price as long as he is sound.  If he stays the same, you might need to lower the price because he's older.  There are so many variables, and I don't know the horse, so I can't give you a real number, sorry.
