No. I would not. THey are human just like me, and I would not force them to bow down to me if I was Queen.

The only person I bow down to is God.

  1. If you didn't want your head chopped off or your @ss kicked, then yes, you would bow... you honor others by aquiescing to their customs in the proper time and place. Why would go through all the time and trouble to meet royalty, only to be intentionally rude to them?

If the ONLY one you'd bow down to is God, I'll bet even

HE'D kick your @ss for the sin of pride. Put others at ease if you please.

  2. I am an American and yes I would bow down before royalty of another country.  It's called respect, something to many people today have lost sight of.  There is nothing whatsoever demeaning in the bow before royalty.

  3. If I were in their country, yes.  If I'm in my own - no.

  4. Nope I am not their subject, I am a Subject of the King of Kings though and would bow in a heartbeat before my God and my King.

  5. If I am on their soil and in their presence, I'd bow down out of respect and addresses them. But if they're not in their own kingdom we're not so obliged to bow..

This ain't medieval age any more.

  6. no i would not do that as I am an American

  7. Certainly not. I would not be rude to them, but to bow is out of the question. Besides, I'm not that crazy about the Queen after the way she treated Princess Di, whom I still love though she is gone.

  8. No not really. Just a nice hug or handshake is fine

  9. my country has no royalty.

i would nod my head in respect to them, but not bow.

  10. h**l no!  What did he or she do to deserve my respect? Nothing!

  11. No but I would shake hands which I think is the respect owed to any foreign head of state. I won't bow down to a monarch because it would be like saying they are better than me.

  12. I'm an American and I don't really understand the "Royalty" thing. But, yes...I think I would. It would show respect to our British buddies. What the h**l!

  13. I regard myself as having better claims on the throne they are defiling than they do.

In the unlikely event I should meet the british sovereigns (you know there won't be a "king" until charles or william succeeds lilibeth, don't you?), they would get a polite nod, but certainly not a full bow.

  14. It's a sign of respect for their office. Yes, I would curtsy to royalty. It's not "bowing down" in the sense of humbling myself; it's more  like a gentleman tipping his hat to a lady. Good manners.

I genuflect to the Cross in Church out of respect to my Lord and Savior. The Cross is a symbol of Christ, it's His stand-in. I am humbling myself when I genuflect because no one is greater than the Lord.

  15. I'm a Canadian and I would curtsy. It's just a showing of respect .

  16. As an American, I don't bow down exept to

God.  I might smile, and maybe even nod my head once. The Queen is already aware that Americans don't bow.  I doubt that she'd be offended by it.

  17. I totally agree with aswkingfish!

  18. Nobody "bows down" to royalty, and haven't for at least a century. Men just bow slightly or incline their head a bit, women curtsey or bow their head slightly. You don't shake hands unless they offer their hand first.

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest, it's a sign of respect and good manners.

Edit - Bill, many of my ancestors fought and died for the right to remain under British rule. I'm not ashamed at all to acknowledge my sovereign Queen. And I would far rather do so, than something like Bush.
