Would you abort if you were in this situation? Pregnant with cancer.?

My cousin was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and about a week into radiation treatment, her and her husband found out they were pregnant. They had to continue with the treatment, and her doctor made it very clear that abortion was an option. The situation was, if the baby made it to 4 months without dying (only 20% chance, since a baby can't live without a thyroid) in her womb, the baby would be PERFECTLY fine if not the baby would die, or possibly be born deaf. Would you have chosen to abort or take the chances of the baby dying at 4 months, or being born deaf??

By the way, my cousins healthy child was born yesterday, and passed the hearing test.

It would depend on several things...do I have other children who need me?  What is my overall prognosis?  If I died, who would raise my child?

Many fetuses can survive chemo if given during certain months. Seems it does not bother the infant. I would take the chance.

I would keep my baby...I had a bad situation happen to me and I kept my daughter she is now 16 and beautiful. I would not have changed it for the world.

Happy to hear that the baby was healthy, I'm sure it was a difficult decision that they agonized over.  I would have kept the baby and prayed for a healthy baby too, they were given a wonderful gift. Having a child that might be born deaf isn't the worst thing in the world, either. They gave the baby a chance to survive and it did just that they wouldn't have loved it any less if the baby was deaf. I think I would have done the same thing in their situation and at least give the baby a chance instead of choosing abortion.
