Would you agree with this quote I just heard about Sarah Palin?

Mark Davis, talk show host, just said, I think the left is going ballistic, and smearing Governor Palin, because they cannot believe that the conservative right is not appalled at Bristol Palins pregnancy. That maybe the right is more tolerant than thought. That we may not be thrilled about her pregnancy, but we know that as human beings, these things happen, and at least they are standing by their convictions.

No, actually the pregnancy isn't a big deal....but

the lack of international experience is.

And, think about it:

would Sarah Palin even have gotten where she is if she were not an (overly) confident

ex-beauty queen, sports-journalist who fast-talked Alaskans? Ok, ok, she skins moose.

Probably not. Poor choice, Heather Wilson would have been way better, and no, I do not

Yes I agree with that...the right IS more tolerant...I have for the first time in my life chosen to support the Republican candidate this year and my old liberal friends have turned on me...interesting huh?

I think that Obama is calling this offlimits for 2 reasons.  First - his own mother conceived him at 17, and second - he doesn't want his punishment statement thrown back in his face.  His reasons are selfish ones and strictly political ones.

McCain knew of the pregnancy when he chose Sarah.  Now let me ask you - how sexist would it have been for him to DISQUALIFY her because her daughter was pregnant?

With this announcement now out, even Ferrerro is rethinking her position, and considering swinging to McCain.  

This occurance, and the way it was handled by Bristol's family and the party are indicative of some real, in touch, caring people who are exactly the kind of people I want in the White House.

No, I don't agree.

I don't think the left is "going ballistic."  This is POLITICS and I KNOW that the conservative right would do THE SAME THING in an INSTANT.

I also cannot believe that the conservative right is not appalled.  What of the morals touting abstinence and criticizing pre-marital s*x and fighting contraception or sexual education.  Its hypocracy in the face of no turning back because Sarah Palin has already been chosen.  What else can they do?

Standing by what convictions?  Anti-abortion?  It takes more than that to impress me.

I know what my convictions are and they are having such open communication with your CHILD that they are aware of what causes pregnancy, realize the repercussions of pregnancy on their future, know what contraception is and how to use it, and how to be RESPONSIBLE.

I think you are about 99% right on.  I am happy to see that more and more people are being a bit more tolerant these days.  There are many things that happen that no one has control over except the person who made the decision.  Do not judge, lest you will be judged also.  Makes one stop and thing, huh?

Obama just released a statement that anyone slamming another candidates child would be fired from his campaign and that families are off limits. I think the only people blowing this whole thing out of proportion is the media on BOTH sides.

I also suspect that in some way the fact that the daughter is keeping the baby is driving some on the left nuts.  They know the baby will be born and grow and become a young man or woman, and that many people will always think of Obama's comment about children being punishment and implicit advice to destroy unborn children if their arrival is unplanned when they see that child.  It makes the Democrats look inferior, preferring destruction to "inconvenience."

They are also upset because the Palins walk the walk as well as talk the talk, and that the supporters of the Republicans are rallying around the ticket.

The issue here is that Palin claims schools should not be taught s*x education and nor should they use contraceptives and should abstain from s*x.

I know conservatives are pissed about Bristol Palin's pregnancy because I listened to my extremely right-wing stepmother vent her disgust over it for about 2 hours last night. Teen pregnancy is unacceptable, period. This is a horrible example to be setting in a nation where teen pregnancy is already a huge problem.

Be honest- the only reason teen pregnancy has become even mildly tolerated by conservatives is because they HAVE to accept it. The other option would be- you guessed it- abortion.

Guess which side the conservatives are going to take?
