2002 nissan altima, 85,000km, beautiful car very clean, for $11,900, or trade straight across for a 2002 dodge dakota 4x4

Way too high.  It's worth between $7000 and $7500.  Your Dakota is worth around $7,200 so you would do fine on a straight across trade.

Don't know what the blue book value of the car is but I would expect to pay a little less for the year and mileage.  Decent car though so if it was maintained properly it should have plenty of life in it yet.  See if you can get the price down a little.

That is way over priced! You shouldn't pay over $7,500 for such a car.  You could actually get one just like it for about $5,000 read http://cartopsecret.com  I have used this process to buy 42 cars in the past seven years - I kid you not.
