  1. No - the water would be floating around in big blobs held together only by their surface tension. There's no reason why the swimmer should remain at the surface of the water - they'd either float clear of the water, or enter the water completely, without any real control.

  2. If the cargo bay were completely filled with water, the problems of surface tension and water globules floating around mentioned by others are not relevant. I assume you would have scuba gear on so you could breathe. But, you might have trouble making any headway. As you push the water with your hands and feet, it has to go somewhere. In a closed container, there's no where to go. Pushing the water back will displace water to your front. (The same thing would happen in a closed tank at the earth's surface). I suppose if there is some air in the cargo bay, you could then make forward progress.

  3. Yes, there would be no definable surface, but you could swim "under" water.

  4. Yes you can in this instance but the water is floating with you.

  5. you would quite likely drown as the water would be everywhere with small pockets of air. so when you tried to breath you would almost certainly take on some water. There is no surface in gravity free zone.
