Would you be able to take a gasoline k10 blazer and put a 6.2 liter detroit diesel engine into the k10?

IT is hard to find a good diesel blazer because there isnt very many and they are to find in the right condition. So I want to find a gasoline one and put one of the diesel engines into it so I could make it biodiesel. Could you do this? Would it be hard, do biodiesel get better mileage and what else could I do to my blazer to make it cool. If I cant do this what options do I have?

Thats a lot of questions...Yes everything is possible with a cutting torch and a welder. Biodiesel engines are going to be coming up in the future.. but for now.. I would go with diesel.

You would have to run stainless exhaust with heat shrouds on the underside.. and probably run the exhaust up somehow.  I am a 4X4 nut. I can make anything if a guy has a big enough check book... Where are you at.?

yes it can be done, but it may be cheaper to go on ebay.com and look in the military section for a diesel blazer

Your best bet would be to put a 617 mercedes diesel and trans.

For myself, I wouldn't make the conversion.  WHY?  It wouldn't be an easy changeover.  Actually I've owned a K10, it was gas powered and two wheel drive, helped a lot with fuel mileage.  One option that I also have owned, was a Jimmy that had a 6.2 liter diesel.  These two vehicles essentially are one in the same, just different badges.  The engine compartments are certainly large enough.    I have owned a couple of diesels over the years even a turbo diesel mercedes.  Personally, for me the added cost for a diesel, the engine weight in the vehicles, the incessant noise and sluggishness was not one of my favorite kinds of engine for a auto.  By the way I drove semis, which almost exclusively were diesels, for almost two million miles in all kinds of conditions.  Weather effects things in diesels that you need to research before you do this.  Keeping your water filter for your fuel clear is extremely important.   Waxing, injectors and modified fuel are things to investigate.  I have on occasion had to add other components into the fuel to help extend getting a bit farther down the road.  Yes you can run a wider variety of diluted fuels, but not without consequences.  Mixing  used vegetable oil from a diner and you might smell like a french fry going down the road.  Too much used engine oil or you have an injector start to go out and you leave a black or greyish white smoke screen.  Besides availability of fuel isn't in every station and cost isn't any better.  Good luck in your endeavor!

I think you are in for a hard time doing such a conversion. Any engine change is a big deal, and that sounds like a bigger deal than most. But it would probably be possible. But there are plenty of diesels on the market. Surely you could be happy with one of them, even if it isn't the exact model you wanted.

you'd prolly have to do the tranny too. diesels are torque monsters.

i don't know if it would be worth it. you have to change all the fuel lines and seals. rubber and BD don't mix. another thing is BD IS A REALLY GOOD SOLVENT. IT CLEANS ALL THE GARBAGE OUT OF YOUR TANK, LINES, PUMP ETC.

plan to change a lot of fuel filters for a while after switching.

gas mileage depends. towing-it goes up a little.

unloaded- it goes down.

if your not making BD, it's going to cost more per gal. then regular diesel.

better to buy a 2003+ d-max. they are ready to go BD wise. they don't have the injector issue the 2002- had.

i think gm recommends no more than BD10.

i have run 80 gal of b100 thru my ride w/o issues.

Probably.

To make it cool though, I recommend putting in a compressed hydrogen tank and injecting hydrogen into the air intake system. It doubles fuel efficiency.
