  1. We do it a lot in Canada. After the americans hung our flag upside-down on international television, we've being doing the same to theirs ever since.

  2. I certainly don't agree with it, but before I came "unglued" and did something stupid, I would talk to the people responsible for the flag flying upside down.  It could very possibly be an honest mistake.  They may have accidentally flown it upside down, and when you bring it to their attention, they would be quick to correct it.  It is obviously not respectful to the American flag or to our great country, but mistakes do happen.  Get all of the facts before you act.  And if the flag was deliberately flown upside then act in a legal and mature manner.  See what ordinances there are in your city, county, or state about flying flags.  If there is an ordinance, then it may be a situation in which you can contact the local sheriff, and he could order the violators to fly the flag correctly or not at all.

  3. YES, I would be angry. - First, I would check to see if there was a problem.  Flying the flag upside down is a sign of distress.  I would ask them if there was a problem and ask them not to do it.

I would not agree with it.

There are people who like to bash America ( when one is at the top, others like to throw rocks ) - There are yellow backed Americans who are apologists and afraid to stand up for their country.

  4. Angry?  No.  Annoyed, probably, because they have no idea what flying the flag in that manner means.

Technically, it's comparable to a 911 call.  Should people tie up the 911 lines as a form of political protest?

  5. I don't get hung up on silly symbolism. Even the Statue of Liberty doesn't really mean anything anymore.

  6. You could ask the same thing about burning flag or some other dissident gesture. The question is, does that symbol stand for the rights and freedoms that are guaranteed in the constitution such as freedom of speech and privacy.

One strange attitude that I've noticed is that most folks who are opposed to flag-burning, for example, are also in favor of the Patriot Act which tends to disassemble the constitution. How can anyone who claims to be patriotic by opposing desecration of our flag also favor the scrapping of the Bill of Rights?

    I don't get these people.
