I was at a event in a local park today, There was 2 ladies handing out leaflets for confidence building courses for single mums.

Without even asking if i was a single parent (Which im not) they started asking me if i wanted to join the course, Pretty much going into detail about what they do there, and how they can help me. When i told them that im not a single parent, they seemed really shocked.

I was quite offended, they seemed to presume that i was single as i am a young mum (Im 20 but people say i look younger) Would you be offended?

  1. I don't think I would be offended. I would simply smile and say, "thanks, but I'm married".

  2. personally, I would be very offended.

there is nothing wrong with single parents, but to assume and imply that you were a single mother, is very offensive.

  3. Well I am curious as to what kind of event that was. Was it something for single mothers or was it something else and they were apart of it?

If the event was for single mothers then the people there are more than likely single moms.

The time I would be offended is when they looked shocked that you were not a single mom. No one is saying that this is bad but I would feel like they were saying "oh you're so young I'm sure you just opened up your legs and the guy ditched you when the kid was born."

Sorry but you should've cursed their a**es out!

  4. I would be offended.  I'm 19 and have been married for a little under 2 years.  No kids yet.  That's like when people ask me "oh, you got married at 18 because you got knocked up, huh?

  5. If you were alone how are they supposed to know ..Hun take it and smile its not their fault they are doing a job after all they are only handing out leaflets x

  6. LOL I'd play it up pretty good.  I'm always with my cousin's kids because she works so usually we go to the park A LOT because it's free and it gets rid of their energy LOL.  I usually have an 8 year old, a 6 year old, 3 year old, my 21 month old daughter and I'm 8 months pregnant.  Sometimes I take the neighbor's kids too for some extra cash when she runs errands and the kids are 10 and 7.  I've played it up a few times with the old ladies that judge me and ask when I'm getting married and I'll say that my bf just left, c**p like that.  Sometimes I've heard comments about birth control and stuff.  I'm 26 so having that many kids with no car looks funny I guess....
