Hi, I dont know about you but I hardly ever watch the bbc channels anymore and I would be happy to get rid of them so I didnt have to pay for a TV licence, seen as thats all the cost of one goes towards.

Does anyone agree? I pay for sky and would be happy to have my telly bbc free if it saved me my £139 licence fee a year...

Also the bbc have just admitted paying a massive fine for rigging phone line competitions, which they paid with licence payers money......so the quality of tv programmes surely will go down.

And, as someone else pointed out, people abroad get to watch the bbc channels for free, another annoying bbc fact!!!

  1. Only if someone else makes Eastenders!

I've said this before, Licence fee's should be added on at the point of purchase of a TV. It should be the responsibility of the Retailer to make sure people have a Licence for the goods he is selling. Instead of hoodwinking us into thinking we got a bargain - just top the TV price up another £120 and issue the Licence at the till point. Simple.

  2. No. Heaven preserve us from the commercial channels.  The ads drive me crackers, even ruined 'The Simpsons'.

Nobody does costume drama like the Beeb, their wildlife documentaries are in a class of their own, and Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight takes a lot of beating.

Love radio too, some good stuff on radios 3 and 4. Today, pm, the Proms, the Now Show, Jazz record requests for example. No annoying ads here either.

  3. Me and my family watches a lot of sky.An it very rear we watch the bbc.An we are the only countries that  pays for a tv licence.

  4. I would quite happily not have BBC channels in order to not pay tv license fees, not likely to happen though.

  5. Yeah I would, as the only thing we ever watch on BBC is Top Gear, infact our TV is very rarely one.

We also live in a part of the country where we have to have Sky to get a reception, and I really grudge paying for a license when I cant get normal TV.

  6. You bet. And one more left wing channel got rid of.

  7. Lets be honest it's just another tax.

I could happily live without the BBC

  8. no i like the bbc. But i don't think we should pay a tv license

  9. The BBC provides much more than just TV, there's radio, news, education etc, for 40p per day. I don't watch much TV, but think BBC offers at least as much quality as the others without the adverts. I also live in a poor reception area, can't get digital, C5, and ITV comes and goes. Personally I'd rather have what I can get from the BBC and wouldn't think of paying for Sky, which I can't have anyway as we're not allowed satellite dishes where I am.

  10. i agree

  11. Gladly given the choice. but they won't do that, as they know what the outcome would be.It's like a lot of things in this Country, which we don't need but are rammed down our throats.

  12. Agreed.

We should certainly have the option.

  13. Yes,the BBC has become little more than a mouthpiece for the Labour party since the sacking of Greg d**e

  14. Another fool who does not not how Licence Fee is spent.

The BBCc only gets some of it.  Much if it is used to pay for the infrastructure to be able to broadcast. Masts, Satalites, tranmitters etc.

Loose the licwence fee and your ability to pick up any Radio or TV will be severely limited.

You will then be complaining that Murdoch has a monopoly.

  15. there are some great bbc programmes like doctor who, gavin and stacey, the office, the royal family was a bbc programme.  They do make some gems and I also really like listening to Radio one, so no, I don't have a wish to rid myself of the BBC.  I have a full sky package and thats full of tosh and  repeats mostly.  I usually watch BBC programmes like Alan Partridge, two pints of lager, the office, all repeated on sky.

  16. Yes,

  17. Yes I would.  Many years ago a man tried to do that he rigged his TV so it only recieved itv channels (that was the option in those days) and claimed that he didnt need a licence but it still got fined for not having one
