No, I would not be surprised.  In fact, I was watching a movie called "beef" a few months ago and I think he pretty much said exactly that.  It doesn't really matter though, because unlike some rappers, he actually has the clout and the talent to say it.

Nope, but I do consider him to be one of the greatest, I think he would ruin that by saying he is. You let the fans decide, look Lil Wayne kept saying "best rapper alive" over and over and now people believe it

He's not that arrogant - he just wants to see intelligent people practicing the culture he helped build.

In addition, after Scott La Rock was killed in the late 80's and BDP disbanded, KRS always described himself as equal entities to Kenny Parker and Ill Will as far as pushing the message of intellectual enlightenment  and growth through hiphop.
