Would you burn a flag for money?

Would you burn the flag of your country for a relatively large sum of money? ($10, $100, $1000, $10,000, $100,000, $1,000,000) Is burning a flag the same as disrespecting the country it stands for? The soldiers who fought and died for it? Or is it the destruction of a cheap bit of fabric, who only represents abstract concepts which cannot be destroyed, disrespected, or offended? Is patriotism more valuable than physical possession? Or is it unpatriotic (Un-American) not to accept such a large sum of money for such an easy task?

I'd really like to know what you guys would do. It'd be rather interesting to know your country, whether you would burn your flag, for how much money, and why or why not.

  1. Just to let you know, burning the American Flag is protected under freedom of speech. However, no. I wouldn't do that. I think it's immature to do something like that, and it would symbolize that you have no apprecation for the sentimental value of the flag.

  2. ABSOLUTELY NOT. it would be like spitting in those soldiers face.

  3. I would, actually. A flag is just a worthless souvenir. In the long run it doesn't mean anything.

For those of you who say flag burners are "spitting in the soldier's faces" or are "disrespecting the country", well I would reply that if you think the flag is what soldiers think about, what soldiers fight for, and is all that a country stands for, then it is you who are belittling the nation.

A country is more than a flag. A flag is just a reminder. What really counts is democracy, constitutional rights, economic liberty, equality, and everything else that makes America and many other nations of the world so great.

If you were instead to ask if I would bribe a senator for money, or something equally gross, I would never do it because I have morals. But the flag itself? That is just pride, and in my opinion, pride is one of America's greatest flaws right now.

  4. Burning a flag is pretty disrespectful thing to do.  It's ment to be show of hatred and disrespect pretty much everywhere in the world that I know of.  I'm not an American.  I'd not burn the flag of my own country no matter how upset I might be about my countries government at times.  You can't put a money value on something like that because it's selling yourself and your values out in a bad way.

How would you presonally feel if someone were to burn the flag of your nation publicly and put it on video for broadcast?  It would probably make you mad as that would be an act of hate and disrespect to you and your country.  The reason is that it's more than just fabric for people it's a sign of thier honor and the hard work of all of thier people and I'm sure that applies for pretty much most people in the world.

So lets all be at peace with each other and not burn any flags.

  5. show me the money

I am a veteran and love my Country!  I would not burn a flag for any price.

  7. I am an American, and I would not burn my country's flag for any amount of money.  In short terms, I find it disrespectful.

  8. No, but invite me so I can beat the *** of anyone who does.

  9. No, I would not burn the flag of my country for money.

    I am an American.
