  1. Pilot. I just like them better.

  2. Pathfinder or highlander would be my choices...They have a good resale value also!

  3. With gas prices the way they are, and... as far as reliability, and cost of ownership, I'd go with the Forester. They are incredibly well-balanced cars, awesome in the snow, and much lighter and more maneuverable than those other 3 bigger suv's you mentioned. They are also much less expensive to buy, period. check into them, and go drive one... you'll be convinced!

  4. My mother used to have a 2002 Highlander, and I really liked that car - Toyota invented the crossover SUV, and that thing really was "The SUV with a car-like ride" like all the ad material said. It was a Limited V6 model, and had a very quality feel about it - smooth acceleration from the V6, really nice, soft leather, and a great JBL sound system. I would definitely buy one of those again. Very easy to recommend, good fuel economy for an SUV, definitely my #1 choice. You mention snow-ready, and FWD is great in the snow. The Subie would be the only one better, because AWD is great, but unless your driveway is a 60 degree incline or you live in an area that gets hit hard every winter, you don't need AWD to deal with the snow. I know in Connecticut, my only relative with an AWD SUV was my Aunt Nadine, and that was because she has one of those scary tall and steep gravel driveways that can throw you down a hill come winter.

The Honda Pilot is another nice car with a comfortable ride, really nice seats and a good amount of passenger and cargo room - a direct take-off on Toyota's Highlander. Also FWD, another easy to recommend vehicle.

The Forester is one of those dark-horse cars, an also-ran - It does offer AWD, great safety ratings and a different shape, but unless AWD is a deal-breaker or you really want to buy something a little different than what everyone else has, I would prefer a more traditional crossover like the Highlander or Pilot.

I like the look of the Pathfinder, but it's built on a truck chassis - not what most people are looking for in an SUV these days: You're looking at sub-par interior materials quality, poor gas mileage and a rough ride, but a little more interior room, superior towing capacity and an off-road-ready chassis - I would think that having a boat or trailer to tow or being serious about off-roading would be the only justification for purchasing the Nissan, since the others are superior in every other regard.

    Just my two cents :)

    Best of luck!

  5. No, none of those. I'd get a Honda Fit or a Camry.

  6. I would look at the Pilot or Forrester. Pilots come as a hybrid, but I hear they are pretty good on gas mileage for an SUV. The Forrester is supposed to have good traction and is a good choice for an all-wheel-drive car.

  7. I would get the Honda

The Pathfinder for towing, hauling, and off road capability.

The Forester for value, performance, and safety.

    The Highlander for overall reliability.

The Pilot for the best balance of everything.

But any of them would be a good choice. This is a good list you made.

  8. none of those... i would get a 2008 Toyota RAV4 limited 4WD... for a few reasons

for starters... it gets good gas milage. The Pilot and Highlander would get around 16/23 city/highway MPG, but they are the most sensible choices if you need a bigger crossover vehicle with three rows of seats, between the two get a Highlander. Also the Pathfinder would get around 15/20 city/highway but it is the most offroad and snow ready. but that doesn't mean these other SUVs can't handle light to even heavy snow, but the Pathfinder is an offroad beast. The brand new redesigned 2009 Forester is a decent enough car, but isn't as spacious as any of the others. but if you don't need three rows all the time, the RAV4 would be perfect. it...

    -gets the best gas mileage

    -is very spacious

    -can handle the snow

    -is very affordable

    -5 star crash test ratings

    -very reliable (it's a Toyota)

-powerful and fast in the V6 version

    -it is highly rated

-overall it is a great car and i would highly consider it... be sure to do your homework though... research on edmunds.com before making a desicion

  9. I think the most reliable ones are the highlander and pilot. The forester and pathfinder isnt as reliable in my opinion (but still pretty good). All of them are snow ready and can be affordable (depending on what you find for sale) Pathfinder is probably a little more spacious than the others (because it looks a little longer to me) and its probably the best for snow (since the platform is based on a truck). The Pilot is probably 2nd in space and 2nd best for snow (it looks more ready tha the highlander and forester...and the 3rd row seats fold completely flat for more trunk space)

I would recommend getting the Pilot if you can get a good deal. The odometer shouldnt be that high since its only a year old. You should also test drive all of them to see which one is more comfortable. If not, go with either the highlander or the pathfinder.
