I am moving to Florida. I need to buy a car. Should I buy one here in Michigan than drive it to Florida or should I just wait till I get there and purchase it.

I have to rent a truck either way to move my personal belonging's.

I want to buy a small to mid size car. I am not buying a truck to tow my stuff down there with!

  1. Florida cars have not been exposed to salt every winter like Michigan cars. You can find an older car without any rust problems. You can find good prices in either state if you shop around. Plus you aren't paying for the gas, motels and taking three days time to drive to Fla. If you have a problem with the car, you will be near the place of purchase.

  2. Michigan

  3. compare the markets.  In michigan the used car market is soft (because of the high lease rate) and deals are everywhere.  I dont know about florida, i live the the mitten.  Jump on auto trader and look at similar vehicles in each area and see what they go for.  As far as salt and corrosion is concerned, all cars have a 5 year unlimited mile warranty against that.  Think about it, how many cars that are 5 years have rust.....

  4. Wait til you get there. That way you don't have to rent a trailer or tow dolly. We're moving soon too, I'm not about to sell my small truck so we have to rent a trailer to take it along.

  5. Florida
