Or is that kind of unsanitary and gross?

  1. I think it would be fine as long as the mattress is clean. Steem clean the mattress, or spray with lysol (or both), after you get it. Go look at the mattress before you commit to buying it. Sometimes mattresses can have water rings, and that's ok.

You can have a good clean mattress for years as long as you take care of it and use a mattress pad.

Also, a hot iron will get rid of any dust mites etc. that may be on it. If you have a steem iron, you can use the steem part to sanitize as much as you can.

Also, most companies who sell mattresses have a 'mix and match' sale, which will sell for a lot cheaper than the rest because the manufacturer put one color on one side, and another color on the opposite side. And basically that's all that's wrong with those. I bought one like that when I lived in Oregon. It was a great mattress, but just different colors which I didn't care because I was going to put sheets on it anyway.

    Hope this helps. :-)

  2. I've bought a used mattress off ebay. Was in good condition and they said they'd always used a mattress protector. I'd be happy too .. hotels don't change theirs each time someone stays there .. neither do we when people visit, or if we visit and sleep over at people.

Go for it if it sounds clean ... if you can inspect before hand and test it for comfort then even better.

  3. Have you ever stayed in a hotel???? They don't change the mattress everytime someone else gets that room. I traded a daybed with trundle for a queen size mattress set. It was clean looking and I sprayed it down with lysol. I'm sure they did the same with mine.
