  1. A written guarantee or a warranty. Otherwise its really hard to say if its good or not on Ebay-

  2. I would never buy a refurbished laptop let alone one from eBay. In all actuality, you can never be sure of what you will get. And warranties are null and void if purchased from an unauthorized retailer. Buyer Beware!

  3. I would, but there are a lot of things too look out for. Ebay has a feedback system and there is a link on every seller's page to see their feedback history. I wouldn't buy anything, especially expensive items off anyone with a low feedback rating (certainly not lower than 95% positive). Also, quantity of feedback matters a lot too. Someone with only one or two feedback comments could easily be relying on positive feedback for their first couple of sales to build a false sense of security for future buyers. As feedback builds, however, this becomes harder to do and helps to enforce genuine honesty. harsh though it sounds, treat everyone as suspect unless they've proven themselves with a good track record.

Next thing to look out for: How complete are the specifications for the laptop you're buying? Obviously the more complete they are, the clearer an idea you can form of how good it actually is. Any seller who specializes in technology should be able to expand upon the feedback on their item page, so don't be afraid to contact them and ask. This both helps to prove they have some experience in trading and will fill in any details that are missing.

Next thing to check is if any photos of the laptop are available. Whilst this is by no means a solid guarantee on its own, seeing such photos will give you an idea of the condition of it before you commit to buying it.

Lastly, ask about cost and availability of insurance both on shipping and on the item itself. If both are available then pay for both as extra cover for yourself, especially the shipping insurance.

Following these guidelines, in the end, only you can decide if you trust the person you are wanting to buy from, but I hope this at least serves to give you some pointers.

  4. I bought 2 of them.  look for the sellers feedback, be sure it is good.  ask the seller lots of questions and make sure there is some type of warranty even if it is only for 30.  You can go to the sellers feedback page and see who left good or bad feedback and you can ask those buyers questions too.
