Question:

Would you buy an Elise, Corvette, or M3?

I'm preparing to buy another car. I'm looking for something fast and a head-turner. I'm stuck between the Lotus Elise, Corvette, and M3.

Here's what I'm thinking. I like the exotic look of the Lotus. They're very rare and always attract attention. However, there's hardly no storage space so I can't take it on trips. I also don't know how dependable it is, and how expensive the maintenance is. The C6 Corvette is extremely fast and more practical than the Lotus, but it's more common. The M3's are pretty fast, but the majority of the population would probably just assume it's a 3 series. Any input would be appreciated.

  1. Go for a Superformance Cobra kitcar. Fastest and loudest thing out there with the right engine and a total head-turner. Best price of them all, too. Can't be beat.

  2. You can take the Elise on trips.  Pack light, and remember you can shove things under the passenger's legs.  (And the driver's, just not so much).  There was a guy from Europe a couple years ago drove his Elise clear across the US.

The problem with the Elise is how much repairs cost.  Take the cost of a fender-bender in your typical car...h**l, even a Corvette.  Add 15,000 dollars.  That is how much bodywork on an Elise costs.  I'm not kidding.  A little crack in the front fender, and you've got to replace the entire front "clamshell."  And some of the paint colors are really complicated and difficult to match.

Still, I'm pretty sure I'd go for an Elise if I were in your position.  It's just a more "pure sports car" than the others.

  3. M3

    DEFINATELY A HEAD-TUNER.

    P.S.

IF U WANT TO STAND OUT GET THE CONVERTIBLE.
