Provided that two cars are the same make, model, and price, would you go for the older car with lower mileage (per year average) or the significantly newer car with higher mileage (per year average)? Both are 'Certified Used Car' and thus come with an additional warranty for two years.

Eg.

2000 Toyota Camry XLE @ 90k miles (11,250 per year average)

or

2005 Toyota Camry XLE @ 70k miles (23k per year average)

  1. Older. The newer more plastic, and cheaper engine and suspension parts.

  2. At nearly twice the yearly average the Camry sounds like a highway car ,easier engine use but check the condition of the cars get the car with better features, tires, etc.

  3. It's a camary!!! It will last forever if taken care of. Right now you see  all over the internet and news that Camary(Toyota in general) is holding its status as one of the best made vehicles. I personally own a Honda Accord, but I have owned Toyota and have never had any problems... my Toyota (Corolla) had 180,000 miles on it when I totalled it in a wreck. It ran better than my accord =) What you need to decide is the price of each vehicle. Consider this on the 2000 w/ 90k... it will be VERY soon for a 100k tune up and those can be very costly!! Can you afford that now? Also... do you know what the 2005 was used for? Was it a company car, lease vehicle, etc..... do you know the history on this vehicle as to why it has higher miles? ALWAYS get a car fax report, although keep in mind that if a person did wreck or have mechincal problems and never turned it in to the insurance company... these problems may not show on the report. Now days people are putting more miles on there vehicles as well. I put an average of 18-20k a year on my car from driving to and from work... doing weekend activites, and family trips. So that could be the case too. So maybe these suggestions will help you. Good luck.

  4. i would buy a new car with the higher mileage because it's going to be more reliable and safer and you would also have it for a few years. But with an old car even if it has lower mileage than you still cant really trust it, it could have been in accidents but repaired and brought back together, yet, it turns out that when my sister tried to buy new car it turned out it was completely rebuilt because of the accident it was in smashed it up! U  have to ask about that kinda stuff, they dont just tell u! :)

    Hope I Helped! :P

  5. I believe your question is turned around, the 2005 has lower miles than the 2000. Either way, years are not what matter, it's the number of miles on the Odometer. Just because the car was driven a lot in a shorter time, it still has lower miles.

  6. I would buy the older car, just because of the fewer miles and would last alot longer.
