Question:

Would you call it contagious?

it is so weird that when I'm around someone and they yawn i some how get an urge to yawn also and me and my friends where on three way and i saw on discovery channel a tiger yawn so i yawned then my friend yawned then her friend did also and do u think its the same way with laughter? and if so why is laughter and yawning so "catching"

  1. Yawning isn't really, exactly"contagious" like spread it or something. It's just that when one person yawns from a slight lack of oxygen (usually from decreased breathing speed and intensity after excersicing of even just sitting) it is oftentimes the same scenario for the bodies of those around the yawner.

    But, it is entirely possible that the brain may subconscienciously see a yawn, and feel compelled to crack your jaw to do the same.

    I don't really know, but i watch the Science Channel when i'm bored.
