4. And what do you think is the general perception of Filipinos about people with tattoos?

1 & 2 - A man or a woman whose body is covered by tattoos looks very dirty and does not seem to have something better to do in his or her life.

3. I would definitely not look at him a second time regardless of what's written or drawn in his body.

4. My perception with people covered with tattoos is that they all look like criminals who have served their prison term.

   For those whose tattoo consist of only a cute small flower, I find it  nice and cute.

I am from the old school.

A"body covered with tattoos, man or woman, makes me think Yakuza. Or Bilibid Prisons.

General perception is not as general as we think. The younger, more hip set  (and older folks who think young and progressive) think tattoos are cool, and would not be caught in Boracay without a henna tattoo when they walk around the beach in summer. Tattoos there are de riguer, and you are practically an outcast if your body is clean.

On the other extreme, old men and women, especially in the provinces, still think tattoos are a waste, and can't even begin to imagine why some people would want them on their bodies.

As for me, I will never have any tattoos on any part of my body. But I respect other people's rights to do whatever they wish on themselves.

1. i usually look at the kind of tattoos first..if it has meaning rather than those agila and other snakes or if it is, i check whether it is  artistically done or not.

2. for a woman to have tons of tattoos, that's a wow! she was able to let go of her love for her skin.some women would die for a flawless skin but in her case, she made a different fashion statement.

3. he love that woman so0o0o much that he had her name planted on his body. a wink could mean different things: that's what will happen to you soon, that's how i love girls or that's how brave i am.it's a very "macho" thing meaning guys takes pride in doing such thing.what a c**p!

4.it varies depending on the age. during the olden times, some of our grandparents had their tattoos on them as a status symbol. the more tattoo rings you have, the wealthier your family is.

for some, they woould say they were ex-convicts.

nowadays,its a fashion statement. some say its cool and it takes a lot of courage to put something on you which you know will stay for the rest of your life.

well, i dont live in the philippines, but i am filipino and i dont like tattoos.

1-2. Admiration. It takes guts to subject oneself to the pain of getting a tattoo and to go against the tide. Besides, many tattoos are really works of art.

3. I am not bothered by EXs but I think it is stupid to tattoo oneself with the name of one's lover - a tattoo is permanent, most lovers are not.

4. I think general perception has changed somewhat over the last decade or so primarily because of the popularity of tattoos amongst celebrities. Having a tattoo is no longer equated with convicts. I'd say tattoos are now generally seen as cool.

Well, everyone had their past. It's fine, but I might consider to "busted" him because I don't like males with issues.

In general...people who have tattoo is either an ex-convict or drug addict.

- the circle I move around would have to agree with me. I mean whenever we see a tattoed person, you really can't help it... you think of that person as vile, someone rebellious, with lose morals etc..

1. Depends on where he got his tattoos. If he got it from jail, he must be a very lonely person. If he got himself tattooed just because he found himself as a living canvass, he must be a very artistic and a brave man. Just thinking about those needles puncturing your skin gives me goosebumps.

2. Female covered with tattoos, hmmm. must be influenced by her peers or just plain artistic. And with a very high threshold for pain.

4. I think there's a lukewarm acceptance for individuals with tattoos. Others find it dirty, while others find it, again, artistic.
