I tried to keep you safe,

spoiled and loved,

but you always were

the curious one.

Now you explore safely,

this world you needed to see.

Just know that when my tears dry,

I am not missing you less,

I've just come to realize,

that you always needed to be free.

  1. What a touching epitaph!

  2. Extraordinary, Sher! Love given never fades away...look near you now. Your kitten is there by your side. And in need of your petting...

HEY TD'ERS...you are as stupid and ugly as I always thought you were...give me more TDs...you are a blight on society anyway...so, why not...?

  3. I'm so sorry!  May your kitty roam the catnip fields of eternity.

  4. It's so sad about your kitty,

thought that I'd compose a ditty,

to tell you that it's such a shame,

but he lives on in kitty fame.

For he will never be forgot,

you will remember him a lot.

He's with you ever by your side,

and that is where he'll always bide.

So try and force yourself to smile,

though only with us for for a while,

    he will be forgotten never,

    kitty's name lives on forever.

(Change he to she if appropriate.)

(And nobody can blame me for a thumbs down...I'm back to level 1 at the moment.)

A little ditty for your kitty, but they still give it the thumbs down. Tells you a lot about their mentalities. The kind that would dredge up grudges at a wake.

  5. Not a pome, A "poem" from your heart.

    Kudos and Blessings Be.

  12. how sad!

when my guinea pig died, yes i know, its not quite as big as a kitten but he was my first furry pet, i cried for so long and i thought i would never be able to look at any other guinea pigs, but i know that he was sick and he was going to be more comfortable without the pain =[ so sorry about your kitten and beautiful poem

  13. That's beautifully expressed sher...i love it so much...and the poem reminds me of my kitty...it makes me feel very sad...but as you said, she always needed to be free...and so she has...now in her own little world, she sleeps unaware...though her poet still fondles her memory with grief...they dont know how easily they become part of our lives...they are inseparable...our mischievous little beings.

  14. Before I saw this was for your kitten, I identified with it as a mother of grown children, thinking this was written by a mom who just sent her first child off to college!  It works for both, no?

So sorry for your loss, it's very difficult, I know.

    Hugs, ma

  16. There is a purpose to every life, including that of a kitten. I hope your tears turn to tears of joy.  This is not a pome, but a poignant poem. Thank you.
