Would you care to review Alice In Chains' eponymous third album?

what did you think of it? fave songs off it? is it a fitting last album?

i only know a few songs by AIC: Dirt, Down in a hole, them bones, all good stuff.

im assuming its a good cd.

Alice in Chains never had a bad song.

It shows a progression from previous albums. The themes of despair, misery and disillusionment are still there, but the lyrics take on a sense of endurance, whereas in Dirt there was a sense of no hope. The songs on Tripod are more melodic, less metal. The impact of the album as a whole doesn't match up to Facelift and Dirt. This album is a light tap compared to the full out punch in the face that the other two produced. There are high points: Grind, Heaven Beside You, Over Now, Brush Away - but there are many forgettable things about it (unfortunately). The production and music and talent are there, its just a little frustrating that it didn't completely line up and create another amazing album. It was a great step for them to finally try to take their music out of the dark and try to gravitate toward hope/optimism, but it didn't completely work for me.

Tripod is what it is. Some of AIC's best tracks are on the album (as mentioned above). I would've loved to see what was in store for their next album if Lane didn't die. Don't get me wrong, I really like the album, but compared to the others, this one falls a little short.

I LOVE Heaven Beside You, it's such a cool song, it makes me wanna play it on a guitar, lol. But yeah, AIC is a great band.

It's My favorite Alice In Chains Album. I like it because it is their heaviest effort by far. The song "Grind" is just massively heavy. I think it's a very fitting last album to reflect what was the original Alice In Chains.
