Would you choose to live for 5 weeks in Buenos Aires or Santiago. Why (pros + cons)?

I'm going to do a Spanish home-stay through a language program. I want to do it in either Buenos Aires or Santiago, but I don't know which city is better. Basically which one would you choose and why?

I am going down there to improve my language, absorb some culture and also have some fun before college. It would be during July/August.

Please, if you have any helpful ideas or pros and cons about each city, let me know! It's much appreciated.

This is how I see it:  I think I would go for Santiago.  make sure to take a trip to the South of Chile, it's breathtaking!

Public transportation rocks

Accent is less strong

The rest of Chile is accessible

Skiing and Beaches nearby

Buenos Aires

Much more cosmopolitan

Larger city with more people

Cheaper

Food is outstanding

More dangerous

People not as friendly

More American/European
