  1. It depends on whether you are making 100 an hour or 5.

Anymore my time is more important to me than  the money.

You can always make more money, but you can't buy anymore time than you have.

    good luck.

  2. Depending on your tax bracket and how many exemptions you claim, you would only be earning roughly $250-300 extra each month. Given the cost of gas and the general wear and tear on your car/truck, you won't come out much further ahead.

Another thing to consider is whether or not you have a family. If so, is it worth the extra money to miss out on time with those you love? I would rather be close to my son, so I can attend school programs during the day and baseball games in the early evening. Sure beats sitting in traffic in my opinion.

  3. I already commute 1 hour to work and don't get paid extra. I definately would add 30 minutes on to that for an extra $20,000 per year.

  4. heck no, would have to be making +500,000 a year

  5. No because time is money and quality of life should have priority in favor of just an hourly wage. Keep in mind too that fuel and wear and tear on your car has a cost. The only way such a trip might make sense is if you were to use public transit such as a commuter train or express bus to make the trip. Good Luck!

  6. If you're talking an extra $10 per hour, for 40 hours.........I'd do it for $400 a week. Get a fuel efficient car, and it's a wash.

These are real life commute times for many people in big cities. My commute is sometimes 1 hour 15 minutes, and I spend around $90 a week in Gas. I have a job with paid dental, health, optical and prescriptions, so it's worth holding on to, and have been there for 15 years. People say move closer to work, but home is what's most important. If you like where you live, it may be worth the drive.

  7. No.  After taxes, gas, car expenses, etc., I don't know how much would be left.  And even if it were more money, having an extra 6-10 hours a week for myself, my family and friends is much more important than the money.
