Would you consider Flip Flops as appropriate footwear when attending church? Why or Why Not?

When you attend a house of worship, would you consider wearing Flip Flops (sandals) an appropriate footwear to wear at a house of worship? Why or Why Not?

Sure. If Jesus can wear nothing but a sheet around his waist, why would he get fussy over flip flops?

Absolutely not.  Flip flops are not the appropriate dress for church and so many other more formal situations.  Where did everyone get the idea that beach wear is appropriate for solemn occasions or work?  Have we so lost the ability to determine proper dress.  I am frankly appalled.  Who needs a class in propriety?  Must be just about everyone.  Give me a break.

as a female i can see wearing flip flops with a dress or skirt...as a guy  with pants...i would say no.

Definitely not.

I say the  same of very high heeled shoes  and  sneakers.

In these three  cases I would  say that  they are too casual - not indicative of worship, no matter what the faith.

From God's point of view, I'm sure they are.  He no doubt care more about what is in our hearts than on our feet.  From the point of view of the other people in the house of worship, I'm sure that anyone wearing sandals or flip flops would be looked down on and judged.  More so in more conservative churches.

No.  I certainly would not.  But, I am in the minority, I suppose.  Most of the women in our church wear either flip flops or sandals.  Even those with gnarley toes.  Even worse, they paint their toenails bright red, to make sure everyone notices.  Yuck.

Flip flops are only appropriate for the beach. No one wants to see nasty feet and hear that flippity-flopping all over the place. Buy a pair of nice dress shoes.

As long as your feet and flip flops are clean, I don't see a problem with wearing them to church. There are some pretty nice looking flip flops out there these days and even the plain ones look good with the right clothes. Nobody should care what you wear to church and if they do, they need to take in an extra service now and then and pay attention.......

I ware flip flops to church on a regular basis... I mean my Southern Baptist church is very "laid-back".

Besides, Jesus wore sandals.
