Would you consider a negative blood test 5 days before period to be definitive?

I'm hoping that I'm still in the running.. so to speak..

but 5 days before my period was due I got a negative blood test.

Would you say that it's 100 percent safe to say that I'm not pregnant?

  1. It really depends on what type of blood test it was - some blood tests just work like the urine tests - they measure qualitatively and it's either yes or no -

but a beta hcg will give you an actual number (quantitative) - like they will say you have an hcg level of 10 or 12 or whatever.

If you got a negative on a beta hcg blood test, then I'd say that you probably aren't pregnant.

But if it was a qualitative one, then you may just not have enough hcg in your system to get picked up on the test!
