Would you consider anyone besides Stamkos with the first pick?

Question

Stamkos is obviously going to be the first choice, but do you think there are others out there who you would consider if your team had first choice? Or would you go with the greatest Macedonian hockey player since Ed Jovanovski?

Personally, I like Drew Doughty a lot. Looks like plenty of good defensemen in this draft with guys like Doughty, Carlson and the huge Myers.

in this league, i would pick a european over a north american any day...

Stamkos is good, but he's too much like crosby.

if i had to choose crosby or ovechkin, i would pick ovie, hands down...and that's the comparison that i'm seeing between stamkos and filatov.

Yeah Stamkos is the choice. Tampa has just undergone an ownership change, fired their coach and will take the highest profile player available.

well, it depends on what kind of player tampa (or whoever ends up picking first) needs. right now, i kinds think tampa needs some defence. they already have st.louis and vinny lecavailer up front.

Alot of the people on this board suggest the Ning take Doughty first.The one thing they need is help on the blueline.16th in scoring not too bad for worst record in the league BUT GAA(3.22) was the worst in all of hockey so they need help.

Maybe if Tavers were available, but otherwise Stamkos is head and shoulders above every other available player.

If I was the Tampa Bay Lightning, I wouldn't give up Steven Stamkos. He's a very skilled, young player that could really help out their team offensively but the main problem is their defense. It's a tough choice but I wouldn't be able to turn Stamkos down.

Doughty's a slam dunk, they need a Dman, they just gave away Richards and Prospal because they had expendable forwards and Doughty's a far better talent with a far greater upside than Stamkos.
