Would you consider having a Socialist as President?

What does a socialist stand for and why would you consider having one for president?

You do realize that other than having no national medical insurance system for people under 65, that the USA is every bit as socialist as the European countries and Canada?

Even W is really a socialist having gotten a government drug plan in place for seniors.

They alol support socialist policies of one kind or another.

The VA is socialized medicine for those who qualify.

Medicare for seniors is already a Canadian style single payer medical insurance plan.

Think about it.

Socialism is a miserable way to run a government.

It has a tendency to drag everyone towards the 50th percentile in everything. People can't choose to have better of anything. The government chases away private industries that would offer better services for a premium, so rich and poor, nobody gets to choose the quality of their services.

The problem in the U.S. has more to do with poverty and the awful distribution of wealth in the country. The richest 1% of the US has more wealth then 150 million Americans. This disparity is as bad as it was in the 1920s.

We expect socialism to provide services that we can't afford, such as health care and education and levees and such. If the economy were not so top-heavy, a free-market economy could easily provide these services without crippling taxes and allow people open choices.

These problems are the reason that members of the EU turned Socialist after the crippled economies of post-WW2 Europe. That's why people in America would consider it - because it seems hopeful towards providing people the things they need but can't afford,but it's a bad bandaid on a big wound.
