Would you consider somebody rich if they could affard a five month hoilday.?

My friends older brother is going to india for five months backpacking from coast to coast as well as visting Nepal and Bangladesh. He has £5500 to spend and keeps bragging about it. I think you don't need to be rich to go backpacking like this. What do you thick?

I think he has probably scrimped and saved for years and is about to enjoy the fruits of his labour, or at least that's what I'd like to believe...
