Interesting question.  Teetotalers were typically religious and Prohibition in the 1920's was led by the Methodists.  Methodists today are considered the fairly liberal today (as religions go).  Key support was also gained by northern and southern Baptists as well, which is fairly right wing today.  The Woman's Christian Temperance Union was a key driving force behind Prohibition.

    So, pretty much teetotalism is a function of being sick of the blight that alcohol abuse carries, rather left or right.  Many voices will join to say "enough is enough."

  4. Not at all.  Alcoholism is an equal opportunity disease.

    So people who are in recovery and don't drink come from all political directions.  People who are NOT alcoholics, and choose to not drink because alcoholism runs in the family are smart.

    I hope you don't waste all your questions on such foolishness.
