I am not Strictly Dieting , but merely trying to reduce the amount of food and unhealthy drinks i eat.

Today i had a portion of Stewed apple ( apple sauce ) for my breakfast

200 Calories

Around 12 i had a glass of iced tea with honey

50 calories

For lunch i had 5 chicken dippers

210 Calories + sauce = 240 Calories

And for Dinner i will probably have Sausages with my family with a few small potatoes and 2 portions of veg.

This will probably total around 500 Calories.

Today i will be drinking Water , Iced tea and Diet Lemonade so i will give an extra 100 calories for drinks.

This makes a total of around 1100 calories

Would you consider that an ok amount of calories for a diet?

  1. This is slightly less than you should be eating. Most people when dieting tend to eat between 1200-1500 calories every day. This is because the body needs 1200 calories just to function normally.   1200 calories is the amount fed to people in comas just to keep their bodies going. So you really do need at least 1200. If you are a very active person, then you need even more.

If you eat less than 1200 calories every day, then the body goes into starvation mode. Any food eaten is immediately stored as fat, because the body is preparing itself to be starved again. If you continue to eat less calories than you need, then you may actually find that you gain more fat.

I suggest an intake of 1500 calories and exercise 2-3 times a week would benefit your help and you will lose weight.

  2. its ok but be careful because your eating less calories than usual you may get the urge to binge out on chocolate and junk food. And remember not to just check the calories, check the fat and suger too.

  3. It depends on your activity level.  If you are not very active, then it sounds okay, but if you excersize an hour or more a day then I would suggest maybe 100-200 more caloroies than 1100

  4. That's fine. You might want to increase your calories a little. You should find one of those calorie calculators that can determine how many calories you need to maintain a certain wieght. Good luck.

  5. thats not bad.. but i would like to see u more in the 1200 - 1400 range just add a little more variety... more protein sources if u can, and a servering of nuts or two.

  6. And Exercise. Keep it up!

  7. I think 1100calories is fairly good if you are trying to lose weight. But you are consuming unhealthy drinks. Why not steer clear of other beverages and GO PURELY to cold water or have some coffee with sugar (not artificial sweetener) once in awhile.

You should eat a bit more sensibly. Choose the food you eat.

  8. No, it's not enough, certainly not for a sustained length of time.  it's a bit of a myth that you can cut your calorie intake to below what your body actually requires and lose weight safely.  You body will think there's a famine it you don't keep a nice regular balanced diet containing a good calorific content going in to it.  If your body does start to think there's a famine, it will simply store up calories for an emergency and your metabolic rate will fall, so you don't use up the calories your should.

You'll lack energy which will make it more difficult to exercise as your body tries to preserve the nutrition it is storing and end up creating problems for yourself that will be difficult to rectify.

1100 calories is not sufficient unless your doctor has specifically told you to cut down to that amount - you're risking your long term health for short term gain - definitely not a good idea!

  9. It's okay, if you don't actually have to do something. Those who work during the day would starve, if they had to live on your meager chow.

I'm sure Diet Lemonade is not a healthy drink.
