Would you (did you) name a child after your favorite player?

My husband named his son Payton in honor of Walter Payton, at least it is a pretty cute name and he won't get beat up in school.

I'm not sure that if I had a kid I would name him Jean Sebastian as in Giguere, he might get beat up at school. I would name him Scott after scotty niedermayer. I'd laugh if someone named their kid like Evgeni or Teemu and they were from america, it'd be flippin' hilarious.

if i had a kid i would name him keith (keith tkachuk) brad (brad boyes) or andy (andy mcdonald) after my favorite blues players.

If I had a kid I would name him Mark for Mark Messier.Although Mark is a normal and common name I would name him Mark just for that purpose.

i think i might, it depends if at the time, my favorite player has a good name, but patrick sharp will always be my fav so i think yes i will

I think I might.....I don't know yet. Maybe if the kid's father agreed and was a hockey nut himself.

I think I'd be more likely to name a pet after a player. I know many pets named after hockey players. My dad's friend has a German Shepard Dog he calls Letang. One of my friend's has a dog named Sidney.

If I ever get another pet it'll probably be a hockey related name.

.....We have a new kitten and my father has decided to name him "Bob". I believe his reasoning he is hiding his love for Bob Errey. (Ex hockey player......now an announcer for the Penguins)

Alot of my friends think I will because i am so obsesssed with hockey, but i don't know if i like the name Martin (as in Marty St.louis).

**But like Kate said i would name my pet after a player rather than my child.

My favorite player growing up was Reijo Ruotsalainen. That's not going to work, nor would Wayne.

Gretzky is the only guy outside of Tennessee who can pull that handle off.

I tried like h**l to convince my ex and my current girlfriend to name a daughter "Sidney" (after Sidney Crosby) or a son "Mario" (after you-know-who), but I got dirty looks. :(

I did name my dog Barry (after Barry Bonds, when he was a Pittsburgh Pirate and not on steriods) when I was a kid.

sure did. my oldest son (3) Nolan for Owen Nolan. and youngest (almost 2) his middle name is Nicklas for Nicklas Lidstrom.

when my wife first got pregnant with nolan. i had her sold on owen and nolan if we had twins until we were watching a leafs game and owen nolan scored a goal.(she wasnt a huge hockey fan at the time) then she said no. didnt really matter because we didnt have twins.

depends how good the player was....jk, jk...lol...no, actually i would consider naming my child after a player, i.e. Milan, or Mario or Derek or Daniel or Ruslan...if it was a girl, maybe Marian (after Hossa or Gaborik)...lol

except since i'm Mexican, Milan would be a "weird" name in my family, so would Ruslan...lol...but it's my child so i could name him/her whatever i want.
