Would you eat at a restaurant that you know has cockroaches?

ok, so there is this restaurant in the town my college is located in that i have been to a few times and really liked the food. but one time i went with a few friends and one of them got a cockroach in their food. now normally i wouldn't even consider going back, but all the food on my campus is really bad and make me feel like **** after eating it. so i just want peoples opinions if they would rather eat good food at a place that they know has roaches, or eat S****y food at a place that doesn't have roaches. most detailed response will get best answer.

No way would I eat at a restaurant with roaches it is not worth the risk of getting sick!

Ideally, cockroaches shouldn't be in food. They can be a sign of poor sanitation, but not necessarily, because they're so hard to get rid of.

It can be a never-ending battle for restaurants because roaches can come in with the supplies being delivered every week (warehouses can have bad roach problems, and roaches love cardboard boxes).

A restaurant with a good sanitation program should at least have its roaches under control (meaning that they're rarely seen, and even more rarely found in food).

Health departments don't require restaurants to be roach-free. They need to have a roach-abatement program, i.e. regular visits from the pest control guy and keeping the place (especially food prep areas) clean and free of food debris.

If the restaurant looks clean to you and this was an isolated incident, it's probably okay to go back. Try to sneak a peek into the kitchen. If it looks crusty, beware.

I wouldn't mind eating at a restaurant that had roaches if I loved the food,  but roaches IN the food is another story. Someone should have caught that before the food went out. That experience may have caused me to never eat out again. If you really like the food ask to see what grade the health district has given them. Usually it is posted somewhere in the restaurant. If they are rated with an A then maybe it was just a fluke and I would give them another chance.

the fact of the matter is every restaurant has some degree of uncleanliness; with varying degrees.  i would never knowingly subject my body to food that was "contaminated".  i used to go to a restaurant by the water in d.c. until i saw a rat running under the tables. although it was on the outside, i could not help but to think there are more that are  hanging out closer to the food source; the kitchen.  i have not since returned even though they have the best crab cakes i have ever had!!!  be good to your body.  roaches carry many diseases!

If you ever watched that show Kitchen Nightmares it scared me from wanting to eat out at all.

the restaurant looked clean but the kitchen/freezer area would be disgusting
