Would you ever be offended by a smile?

If not, why are people so afraid to smile at a familiar face?

Yeah Ive been offended by a smile before...like when people say something intentionally mean or nasty ...and then they smile at you. I want to punch those people in the forehead ....but random smiles dont offend me and if I happen to catch the eye of a stranger, I always smile at them. Sometimes they smile back, sometimes they dont ...and sometimes they look at me like im nuts. Once in a great while, they'll say hi or even strike up a conversation with me. ..I actually think that's kinda nice.

no i always smile... but its funny.

everytime i smile they say "you have a beautiful smile"

but some do look creepy. like the dad on "king of queens"

Never!! If someone is kind enough to smile, I take it as a compliment. Smiles are contagious...aren't they? There are so many unhappy people out there that sometimes they can't stand the thought of someone else being genuinely happy or sincere enough to just smile. Strange or familiar a smile should be returned with a smile. No? Also, some people are so paranoid that they might interpret a smile to be anything but what it really is...a kind gesture. Unless of course it's a smirk and you can usually tell the difference. Keep smiling!!

smiling is a universal language. Why would it be offensive? And hm I'm not sure about that one.. sometimes they are afraid it might come off as creepy or something, but in my opinion it never does!

I'd only be offended if the person is smiling and l*****g their lips at the same time while watching me!
