Such as a Puggle or Schnoodle (Or any other variation of ___doodle or ___poo)?

If so, how much would you be willing to pay? I've heard of these dogs being sold for as much as $1500 (Purebred price).

  1. NO! I always want to save a life 1st then give some breeder my money. You should always think about adopting dogs from animal shelters, dogs there can only there for at the most a month and if they're not adopted then they have to be put to sleep. I got my daschound from an animal shelter and he's a full breed, you'll never know what you might find.

  2.     I have pure breed dogs and a Yorkie-poo mix dog.  They are all great dogs.  The reason they mix or "designer" dogs are popular, is because they don't shed, are hypoallergenic and supposedly some of the genetic health problems that occur in purebreeds won't happen in mix breeds.

Designer dogs are expensive due to their popularity.  You can find some that are less than $1500.  I think purebreed dogs are great and have their own unique qualities, and mix breeds are great dogs too.

It's up to the person as to how much they are willing to spend for a dog.  I paid $650 for my Yorkie-poo.  My purebreed dogs were about the same.  I think both types of dogs make great pets.

Good luck if you get a dog!

  3. yeah I would pay that... for a PUREBRED!  Kara S and Schnoodle please give us documentation and this "supportive scientific evidence".  Hybrid Vigor is a bs theory and remains unproven.  Dogbreedinfo.com is not a reputable site, just like wikipedia lol its a .com site, .com sites are not great places to get scientific support and information.  Please know how to actually pinpoint accurate information, not "information" that supports your pathetic excuse for reason mutts are better than purebreds.

People buy these dogs because they... well I will say it, they are incompetent morons.  Really?  $1500 for a dog you could get at a shelter?  and don't give me that but from a breeder is better, it is a mutt end of story.  You bought from a breeder that did NO genetic testing, and you make the claim that they are healthier than my purebred german shepherd.  That is pure and utter bs, please explain how combining two untested dogs together suddenly produce genetically flawless dogs?  Please explain how creating dogs with 2 different gene pools each with its own problem suddenly cancels out the problems and illnesses of both the breeds mixed in?  Are you joking, believing this is merely shows the truth that there are more and more morons than intelligent people.  Its that simple.

I like how i asked you to prove that mutts are healthier than purebred and you couldn't even respond.  I said it before in your other question, we have nothing wrong with your schnoodle or whatever it is.  You are arguing over nothing, you twist our words, I don't care how you got your dog, honestly good for you you got him as a present or whatever.  This isn't an immature conversation, you are flipping out over nothing, and you did say mutts are healthier than purebreds and that is just pure bs.  Stop acting like an immature 14 year old girl who feels that every comment towards mutts is offensive and directly linked to you.  I am grown up haha I asked for proof for something you claimed along with Kara S and yet you retaliate with incoherent babbling instead of facts... learn to research, and learn that no one said mutts are worse than purebreds.

Actually, smart one, you got him from a pet store, smart move there hmmm several hundred for a mutt, or $150 in adoption fees?  Yes, you got him from a pet store, which is practically the same thing as buying from a bad breeder who never does testing.  Tough financial choice... its not immature at all and you still have not given us any real proof that mutts are healthier than purebreds (as you claim).  I will say this again b/c you can't seem to grasp it, we have NOTHING against mutts, we have problems with morons who buy them at absurd prices when they can save a life at a shelter.  Stop thinking every comment about mutts is negative.  Yes they are dogs just like my purebreds, can they do the same thing my purebreds do, possibly but who knows, is my dog worth more, yes b/c I know what to expect with the dog, I know where the dog comes from, I know pretty much how he will act due to meeting his parents.  If you are happy with your mutt, that is great, but don't come on here saying purebreds are less healthy/hearty than mutts, its simply not true (you've yet to give scientific support).  Enjoy your mutt, I'm glad he's not sick, you beat the odds of him being sick, but in the future don't buy from pet stores go through shelters.

    hahahaha you're such a joke.

lol your right I mean wikipedia doesn't allow anyone to post on the searched subject... there can't possibly be a reason for college's all across the US to ban students from using wikipedia as a source for reliable information... get that?

The theory that mixed anything is better than purebred anything is called hybrid vigor, and to date it remains unproven, I won't do your research for you, so look it up.  Stop thinking that we are against mutts, b/c this is getting old, stop asking what our problem with mutts is, stop thinking that we have a negative aspect and idea about mutts.  It doesn't matter if I ever met you or not, the information you post about represents what you know and what you do not know.  You couldn't even state the theory that claims mutts are healthier, and you are always advertising mutts as being better than purebreds... stop with the d**n moronic questions that accomplish nothing but produce heated debates, and stop thinking that we look down on mutts, b/c of the 10th time we do not look down on mutts.  Stop advertising for designer dogs.

  4. I would not!

I will not support the purposeful breeding of a MUTT/MIX dog when there are so many wonderful mutt/mixes in shelters that need homes so desperately.

I will not buy into the lies of the "breeders" of this dog

I will not support the supposed "creation" of a "breed" that has absolutely no purpose other than to be...designer.

I could go on and on but I'll spare you my rant.

    By the way, Kara S;

Mixed breeds are just as prone to genetic issues as purebreds are-a yorkie/poodle mix is prone to the genetic problems of both the yorkie and the poodle it was mixed with, just as much as a purebred labrador is prone to the genetic problems of it's parent dogs as well.

All dogs shed, all PEOPLE shed. Dandruff, hair...it is naturally necessary for them to shed in order to adapt to climate and other environmental changes. How is a dog supposed to stay warm in winter with it's summer coat, or cool in summer with a winter coat? It sheds. Period.

  5. I have a wonderful little mutt. Thankfully, even tho she is a rescue, I know her breed mix.

I check out petfinder often, and see several just like her!!

If I get another, I would drive across the USA to adopt one like her..or at least of her mix.

But, no..I would never buy one, as there are too many awesome dogs awaiting the second chance that they deserve.

  6. The only way I would pay for a mix breed dog is from a shelter, So I would be willing to pay maybe $200, although I am not a fan of poodles sooo chances are slim. I have heard of ppl paying those insane amounts for them too. I have heard of people paying $3000. for a teacup. How sad.

  7. Not a chance.  There are so many dogs that will be put down unless people go and adopt them.  And they are so much cheaper than some "designer" puppy.  Save lives don't be trendy!

  8. nope. I got a purebred mini pincher for 175 bucks.  Plus poodles are all snooty and not friendly.

  9. if i could afford it of course i would

  10. Nope. MUTTS should never be sold for money.

  11. Nope.

For $1500 I could buy a show-prospect in my breed! Champion parents and all proper genetic health testing!

If I want a mutt, I'll go to the animal shelter. (I guess you could technically consider that "buying", since money is exchanged.)

    .

  12. if i loved the dog yes but i would never go looking for a designer breed dog and not that price i would much raather adopt a dog from a shelter

  13. I'd buy a unicorn before a 'designer' breed. Adopting from a shelter would be an entirely different matter, but I would never support irresponsible breeding.

  14. The only time I would consider buying a mutt is If it was bred for a specific job.

    Eg. Alaskan Husky

The above mix has been bred for a reason. To do a job, unlike all the other doodle poos who's only reason in life is to be owned by a Paris Hilton wannabee and live its life in a doggy purse.

    Sad, very sad.

I would NOT buy a designer dog or whatever they are called now.. I however have no issue in adopting a mutt from a shelter.

Although I will stick to my purebred Siberians!!

  15. I would never buy one.  Ever.  I may, however, adopt a mixed breed from the shelter

EDIT: Okay, yes, the adoption fee, maybe, if I was absolutely in love with it.

  16. nope only if it was a a shelter.

  17. Not only would I not buy one, I would not adopt one either.

Just not my kinda dogs.  I'm a herding group kinda girl, and the day I see a German Shepradoodle or a Border-Poo is the day I go totally ballistic.

  18. The "adoption" fee from a shelter is all I would pay.

Let me do a cost comparison for you.  Both of my mutts (pug/beagle mixes), cost me a small fee from a shelter ($100 - $150).

Bailey's health issues (luxating patellas), will end up costing me $4,500 + if surgery is needed, which is very likely.

Kahlua's temperament issues (fear aggressive biter), cost me hundreds with trainers, as well as the cost of euthanasia.  None of that can even come close to the pain and heartache that came with owning that dog.

Between the two of them, I could have gotten an AWESOME, pre-trained European import.  All that money, for $100 mutts from a shelter.  Now tell me what the point is of paying $1500 for one of these ill-bred dogs, when the chance of health and temperament issues are so high?  Doesn't make sense to me!

  19. Unlike some people, I don't have an disposable income that can be thrown away for these dogs.

  20. Yeah. i had a designer dog before. i loved her sooo much.

  21. Not a chance in h**l.  I might adopt a mutt, but I refuse to call it a poo, ug or doodle of any type.  I'd never pay $1500.  I'd never pay more than the $125 my shelter charges, and that includes spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations.

  22. Absolutely not.

If I *ever* have $1500 laying around you can bet every organ you have that I'm not spending it on a mutt. I'm spending it to pay for my rescue dogs' medical bills and expenses.

Anyone who was that much money and blows it on a mutt needs to be beaten with a book, preferably one on pure bred dogs, or one about the suffering of dogs in shelters.

I can only hope the book is as large as all of the Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, Twilight, and Dean Koontz books combined.

  23. not me

$1500 for a dog is silly

  24. Never. I would pay the adoption fee from a shelter, but not a cent more.

Oh and I have seen these mutts being sold for $2,000 and more in pet stores. You know the saying...a fool and his money....

  25. Well, never say never ;-)

I cannot see me *buying* a mutt, EVER.  But I will not rule out possibly adopting one in the future.  I would pay the adoption fee - that's it.  But even that is something I can't myself doing.  I might adopt from a purebred rescue group, though.

  26. Only if they were at my local shelter. In that case I'd be willing to pay up to a $200 adoption fee.

  27. I've seen these mutts being sold for $5000 or more.

No way, no how would I ever buy a mutt.

  28. No way.  There are too many great mutts at the pound that need love.

  29. Not a chance.

  30. heck no....its just a mutt with a expensive price tag...

  31. No ma'am.
