  1. As an American, I'd be prohibited from using it in any official capacity.  If I moved, I'd have to buy a big friggin house to wear it properly.

I suppose it depends on the title.  I wouldn't pay big bucks to be Lord Sillipants, Sixteenth Earl of WhoopsyDoobilyDum.

  2. LOL-- Buying a royal title on line falls somewhere between body piercings and skydiving as dumb things I would rather not do, although it's slightly ahead of bungee jumping.  Besides, it just wouldn't go with my Texas twang.

  3. You are aware those "titles" have no legal standing whatsoever. To become a British Earl, Duke, etc. You have to be created by Letters Patent (only written by the Queen) and confirmed by the British Privy council.

  4. The only titles that you can buy in the UK are from an island off of the east coast of England who have declared Independence and now call themselves Sealand and from a Scottish estate that carries a title so you buy a 1ft square and gain the rite to use the title Laird (Scottish Lord).

I doubt I would gain anything from having either of these titles, only tourists and foreigners would be impressed others would just mock me. I have the southern English accent and that seems to be enough to impress people from other English speaking nations for now.

I would relay prefer to be given a Knighthood for doing something good.

  5. You can not buy a  real royal title anywhere.

You can not buy an ARISTOCRATIC title, which is what a duke, marquess, earl, viscount and baron all are unless they are also royal princes as well, and expect to be taken seriously. The United Kingdom doesn't sell titles at all,and other European countries that do "sell" titles" can tell the difference between one who is born to the title and one who bought it! There are organizations such as Debrett's and Burke's Peerage that keep track of who's real and who's bogus.

I'd never waste money on a fake, bought title.

  6. yes, but only because i'm black and it would be really, really funny.  if i were white, it might feel more like trying to be something i'm not, i don't know.

  7. i am descended from real nobility i don't need to buy a title its in my blood

  8. no..period..

  9. -gasp- You can do that?!

    YES!!

This is the sort of thing I get obsessed with. Easily.
