I am just curious to see what everyone else thinks.

I am 20, and I have been living out on my own since I was seventeen years old. (Yes, while in high school.) My rental's lease is finally up after this Septembers rent goes out in the mail, and I am considering a move back home for a few months. I am considering this because I have a friend moving in from out of state this January to live with, and I don't want to wait in this horrid apt. of mine. Also, I think it would be a great opportunity to save up some heavy duty cash money!

Will this make me lazy?

Will I save money?

and could you ever move back in after years of being out on your own?

  1. Find another apartment unless you want to put a huge black mark on you in the dating department. You should be able to support yourself by now. If you have a horrid apartment you should figure out a way to make more money and afford a better one.

And no, I wouldn't move back in with my parents. I have a nice life with a loving husband and a great career.

  2. Moving back home will not make you lazy.

It would be a great opportunity to save money.

I would only move back in with my mother if I had nowhere else to go.  Since I've been on my own (since I was 17) for so long making my own decisions about how I live, it would be difficult to live with my mom again as an adult.  But hey don't knock it 'til you try it.  Good luck!

  3. Hey! I'm 20 and yes, still live with my parents, but this is only because I will be going to college in NY and I have to live under my mother's roof because there are a couple of scholarships that they offer that I couldn't get on my own. How long will it be until your friend comes to move in with you? 1-3 mo's - thats fine, 3-6 mo's - stay at your apt for a few weeks first, 6m-1yr, consider staying at your apartment for a few months before you move back.

  4. No. I have a college degree, great career, new apartment, new furniture, nice boyfriend, and nice life. I wouldn't consider mooching off my parents. Hopefully, they will charge you rent. You will make yourself "un-date-able" by girls like me. I would never date a guy that was 20 or older living with his parents.
