If your children ever became addicts of any kind, would you ever contact the show "Intervention" on their behalf to help them if you had come to the end of your rope?

I would. I'd do what ever it takes to help my children if they ever fell into such a situation, which I pray to God that they don't.

  1. If there were no other options yes i would.

  2. I wouldn't contact a TV show to embarrass them on national TV. My husband and I, and friends and family would intervene and make a change.

  3. I most certainly would because an addict must hit rock bottom in order to change.  Being embarrassed on tv might be his rock bottom.  And it may compel him to change immediately.  Also people who see him on tv, and watch how he change, may become very inspired by his transformation.

  4. I would probably try rehab first. Obviously privacy would be my first choice. The entire world knowing my family's personal business isn't my thing. If that didn't work, I would contact "Intervention". Whatever it took to get my child out of that situation (which like you I pray to God never happens).

That show is also a great learning tool for teens. My 13 year old daughter and I watch that sometimes. It shows how badly drugs can mess up a life. Another good learning tool is Baby Borrowers. While I would never give one of my kids to them, it's a great learning tool for teens.

  5. I LOVE that show!!! I've only recently started watching it but I love it. It helps me get a better understanding of what my brother-in-law went through for years (heroin addiction).

I would absolutely do it, but i think as a last resort. I wouldn't want the whole world to know my families problems so I think I would first try all other possibilities before contacting a show. There was actually a guy on there from my hometown (Pittsburgh, PA--the guy that was addicted to MDX and also got a prostitute & told her the show would pay her. Her pimp ended up coming and stealing his bookbag--did you see that one? If not its on Comcast OnDemand).

But yes i would do it if it came down to it. Hopefully my children will learn from their Uncle's mistakes and not touch that stuff. He lost his daughter because of it. (My MIL has custody & has since adopted her)

  6. yezzir i would

  7. No, I wouldn't. I think that kind of problem should be best kept between the family. Not between millions of people around the world.

  8. No, I wouldn't. I would find another way. I couldn't humiliate them so the whole world could see.

  9. Yeah i would seek help. However i am a recovering heroin addict i know all the help in the world means NOTHING if the addict don't want to get clean. My mom cried begged screamed i still used. Addicts don't get clean because someone forces them into treatment. You can't love someone clean you can't want it for them they have to seek help themselves forced recovery leads to using again. Yes i would still knowing this try to get help for my child. I do know it's actually out of my hands. It don't work as easy as it looks on t.v most go back to using real quick it has to be a choice the person makes for them-self no one can decide to make someone get clean don't work that way. I don't see the show as humiliation that's the problem with people they see addicts as junkie nasty this and that if people QUIT hiding their junkie son/daughter things could get better. Nothing wrong with exposing someones illness.

  10. if that ever happened to my child God forbid, I would get help without humiliating my baby.

  11. only a loser would do that to their own kid on TV. There are many other private programs someone could contact.

  12. instead of saying would you do this to your children why not say would you do this FOR your children..

And yes.. if that was my last effort.. but i would try to do something unpublic before i would every contact a tv show and make my childs life a paycheck for someone.. i would want to help my child anyway I could and if that was the last thing I had to try I would try it

  13. that's a ***** move. you should be able to deal with your kid without the help of a tv show. put them in rehab, put them in a church group, if worse comes to worse put them in Juvenal for a few weeks. tv never solved any ones problems

  14. i think that show is degrading and messed up. its bad enough the people on that show have messed up their life, but having the entire world see has to be humiliating and i honestly dont think that show works. it basically forces those people to get their act straight for a while because the world is watching. and like other people have said it has to be the addicts decision. so the people who have been on that show are bound to start using again. that show is basically families using whatever means they can to get on tv. it makes the family look so sweet and caring, and the person using look horrible.

  15. If it was the only option left to help them, then yes I would.
