Would you ever let police take your gun away from you similar to what they did during Katrina in New Orleans?

Or would you invoke your 2nd and make them take it from your cold dead hands?

Or if you won, would you take their guns from their cold dead hands.

(Remember they swore an oath to protect and defend the constitution which includes the 2nd)

  1. Federal law was changed in 2006 to prevent what happened in New Orleans from happening again. You can bet that if Clinton or Obama somehow win in November they will want the now-majority Democrat Congress to repeal the law banning firearms confiscations.

Note that martial law was NOT declared in New Orleans. However, the (Democrat) city government panicked and unlawfully ordered the confiscation of firearms. Despite the impression given by the video, most police ignored the order and almost all of the unconstitutional confiscations were carried out by the military.

Do realize that the media reports of violence in New Orleans were vastly over-stated. For example, there were many news reports of police/fire/EMS/National Guard being "shot at", but almost all of the reports were circular rumors. Ditto with reports of people shooting at rescue helicopters (show me one, single helicopter with bullet holes in it).

The over-reaction to news reports would make the unlawful actions of Nagin's administration even more ludicrous, if the issue wasn't so serious.

  2. When martial law is declared, the constitution and our rights do not apply, so regardless of what it says they can take guns away.  Assuming I owned a gun, they wouldn't know about it to take it away.  It's not like I'd be flashing it out in the open, like some folks were doing during Katrina.  I wouldn't be shooting people either.

  3. In an emergency area where retards are shooting at firemen doing their job and with proper judicial backing...yes.

If I'm sitting at home in a non-emergency area, then nope!  Second Amendment all the way!!!

  4. Nope. Not willingly giving up my guns but I'd also not willingly shoot the Officer for simply following orders.  Besides they aren't getting in the house without a warrant.

  5. to the first guy, martial law was not declared...and whether it was or not no one is coming in to my house and taking my guns without a fight...

  6. I dont own a gun but I think in certain situations, people should have their guns taken away from them and Katrina was one of those examples. If the idiots who were screaming for help didnt start shooting at those who were trying to help them, then they would not have lost their guns.BUT instead the good people in New Orleans decided to use the cops, firemen and emts as targets.

  7. I think what happened in New Orleans was a tragedy.

Both the Hurricane, the way the government treated it, and the way the citizens handled it.

They should have protected their second amendment rights.

    They should have helped themselves.

They should not rely on the government to fix their problems - ALTHOUGH-- it must be said that federal funding WAS taken away from those levies to fund the war in Iraq. There should not have been federal funding for those levies, but this is a situation which shouldn't be ignored.

I should have also pointed out, if I owned a gun, and I was there, yes, I would not have gone around waving it or shooting people, either.

    But, I don't own a gun and I wasn't there.

  8. It would be one h**l of a shoot out.  I am sure I would win at least 2 rounds before they overwhelmed me.

  9. The answer is 'NO'. On the other hand, I wouldn't have forced a confrontation by being there in the first place. An evacuation was ordered, so I would have left. Right now, if 'they' came to my door and demanded my weapons, I would inform them of their duty to 'support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the State of [insert state here] and bear true faith and allegiance to the same' and shut the door. Then, yes, I'd make them take it from my cold dead hands!
