When i am older and old enough to buy a house, i am thinking of going green because i want to preserve what we have left. No i am not a tree hugger but i believe that going green is a sensible idea,

Would you ever do it?

Do you think people will be more green in the future? Why or why not?

Personally i dont think so because with all of these new gadgets, and SUVS people want to buy, it is hard to tell. But i think if people actually take into consideration about whats happeneing to the enviornment and not worry aboutthe latest gadget, then things might look better in the future.

  1. I will DEFINITELY continue being eco-friendly. When you watch movies, like "An Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore, and the Planet Earth series...and you became awakened to how greedy we are with how we take, take, take from our planet...you realize that you would be crazy NOT to take care of our Earth.

We consume FAR too much... and ignore the climate changes, which we should take as serious warning signs that we need to make serious changes, and very soon.

So -- once I am more financially stable (I'm 22), and I'm ready to buy a home, I will certainly convert that home into a house that is as eco-friendly as possible....like lower-capacity toilets, solar energy panels, no harsh A/C...using a fire place instead of a heating unit, having a low-pressure shower head, recycle diligently, create a composting system, have a garden so we will purchase less from the grocery store, and encourage my future children to join me... and I also want to eventually lean into becoming a vegetarian, and even one day, a vegan.

This will cut down on our consumation of meat, which definetely affects our planet...because we have to grow the grains/corn to feed those animals, and then we have to transport those animals to farms, then slaughterhouses, then the grocery store. All that exhaust is floating up into our atmosphere. The grain that we feed to the animals could instead be fed to humans...so we wouldn't have the food crisis that we have now in our world.

I think that gadgets that promote eco-friendliness will become even more popular than they are right now. There also a trend going on right now for everything GREEN. There is certainly alot of ignorance in the Western World about the changes that we NEED to make to ensure the safety of our future generations.... so it won't be an easy shift, but as long as we are starting....that's all we can ask for.

  2. Yes, why not? You can save lots of money going green. I personally am to poor to afford solar panels or a wind turbine. However, there are some cheap solar lamps, solar cell phone chargers, and wind up flash lights that most of us could take advantage of. Using exclusively cfl's would help a lot as well and you can get them cheap now.

  3. Yes I am trying was right now and as someone who wants to be an active environmentalist and animal acttivist its definantly something I care alot about .........we only have one planet that can sustain us we need to do everthing in our powers to protect it

im buddhist trying to become a vegetarian and learning all i can about being intune to the world around me

try green.alltop.com i love this site and go on everday the best green site on the web

  4. Going green is realy a great task...better turn all the pollution pipes and huge tubes to the political peoples' house..so that we can stay green, because those guys are only giving permission for the bad smoking industries to live in this wealthy land.....make it possible guysssssss

  5. My idea of going green well I am old and have the house and all of the things you speak of. When you have been around for half a century you start to look at things differently. One thing that really stands out to me is the mass numbers of the earths population, 6 billion. If you want to truly go green we had better start working on getting that number down. That is the real problem that we face world wide, population growth.

From what I can see now is that China of all people are the only ones that are trying to do something about this problem, with their one child per family rule. I know this sounds harsh but in the very near future we will truly have to face this problem head on.

  6. I'm always finding ways to be more environmentally conscious.  I use all natural products wherever possible to clean my house, do my laundry as well as the fact that all of my personal care products that I use are all natural.  No chemicals, poisons or toxins.

If you're looking for something like that, feel free to contact me.

I also try hard not to drive whenever possible and I conserve water and power as much as I can.

I think if we all do our part, we can make a huge difference.

  7. i think everyone should not just THINK about going green but actually do it. this is our earth we have to take care of it.

  8. Ive been green for several decades now!, not to be showing my age, but being careful of my enviorment has always been a way of life. Why should you wait untill you are older, to start caring about the future. The future is always tomarrow!

  9. There's two things to keep in mind.  First, the environmental issue is not going away.  And it is rapidly reaching the point people won't be able to ignore the consequences.

Second--relying on fossil fuels is expensive. We are just starting to find out how expensive.

The solution isn't avoiding technology--its using it properly. Solar, wind, and other forms of clean energy.. And taking the common sense attitude that wasting energy (especially when its expensive) is just plain dumb.  Why pay $6,000 a year to fuel an SUV that's overpriced to start with when you can get a minivan that will use half as much gas? (and is safer in the bargain).

Me, I already went green.  I have not reduced my lifestyle at all--in fact  it's improved.  I use CFL's  and otherwise rearranged my enrgy use at home.  Ride the subway (sadly, in the US we often don't have this option, unlike every other industrialized country) -- and spend less time commuting as a result.

    My power bills have dropped 30 %.  I don't even have a car anymore--I don't need it.

And I'm saving--conservatively--about $8000 per year.  That does real nice things to the rest of my lifestyle.

My point--going green is not only good for the environment, its just good economic sense.  What many families are wasting in energy in one form or another would pay for your college education.

  10. I am white and intend to stay that way! People are so ignorant about energy conservation it makes me ill. I hear about all these energy saving bulbs and the real answer it to shut the light off when no one is in the room. I've heard from some smart a$$ kid about being green and then stand in front of the fridge with the door open for what seems like forever. I've spent my life saving energy and this going green is at best hypocrisy.

  11. I like green. but as you mentioned about technology it is quiet uncertain that people will grow more plants. also if some tries to go green the increasing amount of chemicals in the air can harm the growth of plants. So if you want to go green then be the change in your community to spread the message of having more green.
