  1. Well if it is a completely disgusting cleaning job job to do I use them just so that I wont have to waste a washcloth.

  2. I have used cotton pads for about five years or so (I'm 19). If you have girl issues of any kind, they are a must. Wearing a piece of bleached, processed, chemical-exuding plastic between my legs at the worst time of the month is NOT good for you, and not the way nature intended things to be. Cotton pads are a good alternative.

They are easy to clean and keep. I use a lined makeup bag to keep my pads, a small packet of wipes, and a ziploc bag for used ones all together. They are much less waste, you have nothing to throw away. When you get home, put them in an opaque tupperware or ceramic jar (even an old pot with a lid will suffice). Fill with cold water and a few drops of peppermint or tea tree oil to disinfect. Replace the water/oil every day until you do laundry (MAX THREE DAYS!!!) they won't stain or anything. after soaking, i rinse them very well and wring them out, then wash with other clothes (usually underwear and towels and such). i put about 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar in the wash water with detergent to disinfect and soften fabrics. do not use regular fabric softener, it decreases absorbency of pads + there are icky chemicals in it that should not be next to your girlie bits.

honestly, menstrual blood is mostly plasma and tissue, very little blood. it's the same as touching your urine, which is entirely sanitary, believe it or not. making less waste and becoming more comfortable with my body were great results of using pads. my girl parts are happier too :)

you can even use strips of fabric from old sleep pants or pillowcases folded up in your underwear, just to see if you agree with it, before buying or making your own. plus, store-bought pads do not have cute ducks and flowers and hello kitty on them!

  3. Personally, I wouldn't.  But if you think about it, for hundreds of years women did.  YUCK

  4. You'll have to decide what you hate more, the wasteful pads and tampons or cleaning these pads.  For around home, no problem, but I'd hate to be traveling and have to deal with these....just how secure are those traveling packets?
