Hello all. I am back again. This time, not a silly question I think. As you all know, I am a fellow code pink protester, and a happy student at UC berkeley.

I am asking this question not to "troll", oh goodness no, but to get your feedback. Feedback from you, real people who are experts in Military affairs, at least more so than I, and your humble opinion on the subject of Iran. With what is happening with our efforts in the anti war movement, and the lack of support for this war In Iraq, the world viewing the United States as a "bully", and Amnesty international cracking down on human rights violations, would the United States be ready for a war in Iran? Would it be a good Idea? Would you support a war effort with Iran, personally?

Money is tight in this country, and around the world. Economies are not doing very well, this war is costing a lot, more jobs being taken away yet taxes are being spent more and more, many people want out of war in order to focus the money on our economy, the world is angry with us for going to war with Iraq, the united nations told us not to. Do we really have the support and ability to even engage in war with Iran?

What about russia and china, from what I hear, they could be planning an attack on the United States, and with world leaders not happy at our country, who would help us?

Peace be to yo all.

  1. in my idea NO

because u.s soldiers are accessed by iran

i accept that u.s can destroy very much in iran but dont think that this country cant do anything

i think if this war fired u.s will win but with cost of very killed soldier's and a destructed israeil with a high price of oil

  2. The US military is the best in the world in military readiness and ability to conduct military operations. The military would prevail in engagements against Iranian forces. What the US military is not prepared for, or good at is being tasked to be an occupying 'police' force, which is a great deal of its current mission in Iraq. I agree with the previous post about the probable goals in any operations in Iran. They would target command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence. Destroy significant targets, and get out.

  3. We've always been ready for a war with Iran. We wouldn't try to rebuild Iran like we are Iraq, we would just destroy their military, ravage their civilian populous, bomb their infrastructure to h**l and leave. That would take two weeks at most.

  4. While the US Military can win the battle, the US will lose the war.  A quick strike will lead to massive reprisals and Strait of Hormuz would be closed.  Gas would be $10/gallon without a US soldier's foot in Iran.

  5. Ground war  - NO

    Remote strike - Yes.

However - i would seriously consider either pulling out from Afghanistsn/Pakistan and / or Iraq first.

  6. Absolutely not. We cannot afford another war financially, we don't have the human resources necessary to fight one, we are losing our moral high ground and our credibility as a non-agressor with the rest of the world, and absent something like 9-11, or worse, we won't have enough public support for another war.

  7. i heard of a sort of invasion plan for iran from an e7 in the navy. he said that it was predicted that our navy alone in less than a day would be able to launch missiles on military targets and send bombers and fighter jets in to destroy them as well and that the whole military unit of iran would be crippled allowing our marines to run through the country unobjected. this would all be done faster than hitler's invasion of poland(the fastest takeover of a country in the history of the world which was missed by mere hours in the invasion of iraq)

  8. LOL... No.

We STILL haven't recovered our military forces from when Klinton thinned us out.

  9. Short answer:  We can beat them, but we could not occupy them afterwords.  There is a difference in defeat and occupying.

We can defeat Iran now, even with Iraq and Afghanistan.

We can defeat Russia or China if we were in only Iraq or Afghanistan. (Barring nuclear war).

We cannot take Russia and China both against us.

However, defeat means only defeating them.  If we had to a reconstruction effort like we are currently doing in Iraq, we do not have the forces to do that.  We could crush their militaries, but we could not secure the countries.

Who would help us would depend on the reasons for the war, so that is anyone's guess.

The problem around the world is that all the military powers have slashed their militaries after the Cold War and we need larger militaries more then ever now.  Europe can barely defend itself anymore if attacked.  The world is concerned about Iran though.  Depending on Iran's actions, the world would support it if they did something like close off the Persian Gulf.  But there would have to be reason for the world to support it.

The problem with losing Middle Eastern oil right now is not fuel as much as plastic.  We are more addicted to plastic then we are to gas-->Especially in medicine.

Also, Ill take a look at your survey, I tried to answer the question but you closed it out before I posted my answer.

  10. No matter how weak the dollar may ever be, our military will always reign superior, and if Iran is looking for a fight, I say give it to them.

  11. The United States are always prepared for a conflict.  That is why the Fleet Marine Forces aboard Marine Expeditionary Units qualify for Special Operations Capabilities every year.  Marines are the expeditionary force-in-readiness-meaning that they are ready to mobilize a force anywhere in the world within 6 hours at the call of the Commander-in-Chief.

Yes, this war is costing a lot of money!  But it is going towards the Iraqi Government, in trying to rebuild their country from the tyrannical rule of Saddam.  Isn't that what we want?  Actually, I believe our economy is going down  due to in part of most of these CEOs who have outrageous bonuses and raises while us blue-collar are stuck with their low-salary jobs.

If we pull out of Iraq, than we have to worry about the other countries that consider Iraq the enemy, like Iran and Syria - although just recently Iraq and Syria have been working hard on improving their relations.

And Russian planning a war against the US?  They have a lot more important issues than planning war against their largest ally.  Since their economy collapsed, the US have been helping them out the best we could.  So, they are lacking the resources and the funding to engage such a theater.  And if they did, the UN-sanctioned countries will retaliate against Russia.

I just have to know where you guys come up with this stuff.  For Berkely College members, you guys sure don't follow the international relations really well.  I've circled the globe 3.5 time and visited 23 countries and I have never seen anyone portray hatred towards the US although they may disagree with us (in which we already face that here in the US alone).

Now, if you guys want to argue the point...take a 4-year study in Consular Affairs and join the civilian committee that makes up the Senate and House (like most of you college boys would do anyway).  While I go and write my penpals in Iraq, who I met and still keep in touch, I'll mention the things I here from Code Pink.  I'm sure they'll consider it a disgrace since they are supporting their own military and ours as well.  They wouldn't be able to fathom on what goes on in your lovable country of the United States!

NOTE:  I don't quite understand why our own people, such as Code Pink are anti-military; we have done nothing wrong.  Our military is only limited to what the 'whole' US demands (that means you, and the 308-million citizens).  It is the citizens that dictate our responsibilites in securing the US foreign policy.  I just wish that Code Pink will understand that it is mostly kids, like me, are the ones that join.  Despite the rumors, there are no torturing or abusing going on.  Even though a few had been court-martialed (which they deserve).  There are too much media that are corresponding the war as we speak.  If such torturing and abusing was going on every day (like anti-military protesters believe)...we would have so many daily reports that the UN themselves would have to force the US out of Iraq.  There are over 200 countries that are invovled in Iraq.  There are thousands of liberal war corresponders that would love to show the so-called tyranny of the US.  But since no incidences happen like they claim, no media projects it.

  12. Yes

the type of war we would fight with Iran would not involve boots on the ground

We will wipe out their nuclear sites and military bases through massive airstrikes

Something that should have been done decades ago

    "Code pink, U.C. Berkeley"

Were you one of the morons that dressed up like a witch and protested at the USMC recruiters office?

Berkeley is an embarassment to the entire state of California
