Question:

Would you feel guilty about this?

I turned 20 today =)

Tonight my best guy friend was throwing a party at his place. He asked me if I'd go earlier today and I said "maybe". Only I ended up feeling really tired and I decided not to go.

Then he got angry because he said the party was for my b-day. The thing is, I don't really feel the party was for me anyway. I felt like it was just a random get-together which happened to be on the same day as my b-day. He invited 14 guys (people from high school I barely knew) and only 1 girl (I've never met her).

I am angry at him for making me feel guilty about not going. How should I deal with this?

  1. Tell the guy to blow himself and take a hot shower.

  2. I would blow it all off. You deserve the party you want. You can thank him for thinking about you if you want to.

  3. Maybe. But he should have taken more means to convince you to go.

He should have also dropped a hint at the very least.Just tell him you didn't know that, and you are really sorry that he has wasted all his effort in inviting everybody.

You are lucky enough to have a good friend to throw a party for you. In fact, you are fortunate! I've never a friend to even bother about my birthday...no presents...no " happy birthdays!" . Its just like every other normal school day for me. Just apologise to him and tell him to drop a bigger hint next time.

    Oh yeah...Happy 20th Birthday! =)

  4. Happy birthday! If it was for you and you told him maybe, why didnt he try harder to persuade you? If he was throwing the party just for you, the whole point is for you to come. You told him maybe which means MAYBE.If he doesnt know the difference between maybe and yes then its his problem.

Plus if hes your BEST guy friend he probably knows your closest friends or at least who they are.So why didnt he invite them? I think you are right about it being a random party.Dont feel bad.A real friend would understand that you were tired. And he would make you feel bad.Its YOUR birthday. You can spend it how you want!

  6. tell him you are sorry but dont feel guilty about something like that....happy birthday by the way!

  7. well first of all happy birthday just call him and tell him why u didn't go to the party that he says that it was for u and maybe he will understand why

  8. well tell him  your sorry fr not coming and you didnt know!!!

and that its no reason for him to getmad at you over!!

  9. First off, Happy birthday, You did not give him a definite answer so I would not feel too bad. It is your choice to do what you wish on that day. If he tried real hard to get you to go then may a little guilt would set in.  It sounds as if you may have hurt his feelings. But if he is a true friend he will understand and you should not feel so bad he will get over it.
